Well up reading that more it would be very interesting to see what else this kid has done in the past. If you look at many people who are clasified as the psychopaths or have anti-social personality disorder, one can see how they abuse animals (which manifests itself and they soon abuse humans), they don't show any remorse (rationalize their actions, or don't accept the responsibility), they start fires on a regular occurence, they have a history of wetting the bed, stuff like that.
while i think it is to early to say that this kid is going to turn out to be another olsen, the thought that someone is predestined from the age of 11 years old to become a serial killer scares the hell out of me to be completely honest with you. To get inside that kids head would be so very scary, but yet to very interesting.

I think the parents need to be looked at as well. What kind of trailor trash can raise a monster like this? Not only should this little demon be locked away forever, or better yet done away with and terminated (I'm guessing many people will disagree with this because "he is a human being, and we're not animals," but we fail to understand that this is something even most animals don't even do, who's the smarter species?) but the parents need to be investigated and find out how the hell they raised this thing. Is it me, or has the world gotten sicker as time goes on? I hate to envision what other sort of diabolical events a 11 year old can pull off.
Personally I feel rehabilitation is almost pointless and a waste of my tax money. Why would I want to spend my hard earned cash on some crazy kid, when we could put that money to better use by building some bloody roads or better yet a hospital for this city. Society shouldn't waste their time trying to help the hopeless. There are just some people who don't deserve to live, and we should do away with them. It only becomes a hinderence to our own society.

Why can't we just lock these people in an institution for life? or at least until we are 110% sure they are cured... no more half measure... time for society to curb this stuff in a harsh fashion.
|
The Americans already deal with crime in a pretty harsh fashion. They have twice as many people in jail as China does.
Maybe a different approach is needed?
And no, I don't mean starting with this kid. [/b][/quote]
I never said jail, I said institution... I think this kid needs some sort of medication at very least and should still never see the light of day...
I also think the mother should be sued/indicted for gross negligence... time for the justice system to attack yet another source of juvenile crime... deadbeat/idiot parents... we punish failed parenting, people are gonna watch their kids, or reach out to the authorities when they can't control little Rutiger before he rapes a senior or lights a dog on fire or something equaly insidious.
Like you pointed out, Canada's crime rates (aside from murder) are positively massive... and thats just the reported ones... I've heard some horrifying stories about rape numbers in Saskatoon and Northern Ontario... I think we need to get it under control before we throw stones at the US. If that means we string up rapists or have public beatings, or imprison parents, or medicate people, or keep them in an insane asylum... or whatever works in other countries...anything short of becoming these people. A certain amount of crime is expected from society, but how much is too much, and when do we draw a hard line is the question?Personally, I say the time is now. Curb it now before its an epidemic.

I'm all in favour of public beatings or running a gauntlet. This kid to me doesn't even deserve a single ounce of medication. Why waste it on this trash? Give it to someone who might actually have a slight chance of benefiting from it. I say we go back to Darwin's theory of "survival of the fittest." If someone becomes a hinderance to the safety, steady flow and production of society, he should be done away with. You are only as strong as the weakest link. These links must be removed for the rest of us to proceed. I don't classify these kinds of creatures as humans or people. They are nothing more then a pest disturbing society.

Is your answer to everything kill them? Could you ever think that maybe just maybe this kid has a problem and if we deal with it, we can learn from it, and from there we could get this, work so this doesn't happen as regularly as it does right now. So could helping this one person be helping someone else down the road. If we were to just say, kill them, whenever something happened then you know what we wouldn't learn a damn thing. However I do find it funny that you are lambasting an Arab society and calling them "bas**rds" and you made it seem like a very backwards culture. Then you go out and promote publics floggings or beatings.... sorry but that just doesn't add up to me.

The woman said the 11-year-old put on a condom and tried to rape her, followed by a second boy.
To me this is the key element to the case.
Why did this eleven year old boy have a condom with him and why did he put in on before raping the old woman?
How can a kid be concerned about contracting STD's but show absolutely no concern for another fragile innocent human being. I'd imagine if he had been educated on sexuality he'd also realize he would not be able to get her pregnant for many reasons, one being he is probably prepubescent and she is post-menopausal.
I would think a little investigation into the matter would show this is a copycat act. This boy has witnessed sexual acts before, either firsthand with his mother or through pornography, but in either case this screams neglegent parenting. This mother has screwed up these boys in a big way.
As for the punishment, it's a hard decision. I mean what chance does this boy have, growing up in that enviroment. Since his brother is at the scene it's obvious it's not just the one kid who happened to be a bad apple, it's the entire family. A full investigation should be launched on the mom and the boy should be put away indefinetly until a full board of physchiatrists deem him fit to return to society.
If he never shows improvement... no release, simple as that. We don't need scum like this ruining other peoples lives. Hopefully it's early enough though, so they can reverse the years of terrible parenting he's enjured and he can live a long productive life in society.

If we really want to get into the territory of "survival of the fittest", then an 11 year old that is capable of this kind of behavior would probably end up on top if he was lucky enough to survive puberty.

the next question is was the condom donned to prevent pregnancy/STD or to reduce DNA evidence? This concept of a 'copycat' crime has merit, but it could be mainline Hollywood movies that are being copied. As far as the experiences aspect, he could have been victimized himself, or had locker room tales. We see incredible violence daily, in movies, on the news, and for some at home, only a few use it as an excuse.
