We did in Grade 3, out to the Fairview Colony. We didn't get the full meal like you did but I did recall having a cup full of tasty french fries. I remember thinking about what the Hutteries must have been thinking about a bunch of bratty loudmouth primary schoolers out to gawk.
I remember the hutterite pickups selling chickens in Chinatown... I think they still do that don't they?

I have been to a colony a couple times. My grandpa owns a company that sells various farm chemicals and stuff for pig farms, so he was always going to colonies. A couple times I went with him.
My grandpa's name is Larry and the first thing they would always say is "Larry did you bring us a bottle." My grandpa always brought them liquor, helps in business deals. All the little kids would follow me around, because they rarely see outsiders. It was quite funny.
