When I saw him go down I wondered how long it would take him to jump off the stretcher to get back in the game.
Apparently it only took him ten minutes to recover from his horrific injury.

Are you already sick of the two or three ads that are played OVER AND OVER?
The kids playing soccer with the stars;
The Canadians travelling in Germany that meet the really cool oom-pa-pa band that is in to hip-hop;
Please get a few more sponsors!!!

Rooney is now being touted as doubtful for the opener. What are they thinking? Gerrard has been passed fit though. We will learn a lot from England's match tomorrow. For one will we see how far they have come from 2002, as Paraguay are a team that likes to keep possesion, and we'll found out what England will do to combat that and therefore get a good idea of how they might fair later in the tournament.
I am expecting us to win. It's important to get a good start, but Paraguay will be quite happy with the draw.

BRAVO ECUADOR BRAVO!
Poland hit the post twice in the late going.
Not a shocker IMO. Ecuador was third in the South American Pool. What a wild party it will be in Quito tonight.

More unreal was his "miraculous" recovery from being on the stretcher.

I just got back from watching both games and this has defenitly been the start I was hoping for. The goal by Frings will most likely be in the top 5 goals of the tournament. I did think that Costa Rica looked a bit overwhelmed at times by Germany who controlled most of the game. Although this game was high scoring and a lot of fun I have to say that the second half of the Ecuador vs Poland game was the most fun to watch. It was a nice late effort by Poland and I almost felt bad for them when they hit the post twice. I'm very happy that Ecuador won and even more so that their defence played as strong as it did. I can't wait until England's game tomorrow...and hopefully there's an upset in this one with Paraguay stealing the game. Don't get me wrong Brit fans, England is my second pick for possible cup winners, I just always cheer on my Latin American teams.

What a great day of football, I can only hope tomorrow is as interesting. Germany's first and final goals were amazing and Ecuador played the counter against Poland to perfection, next two games in this group are to be looked forward to for sure.

Yeah Yeah, I've heard it all before. I will agree that they are overhyped because of the ridiculous media over in England. Still, given that I'm originally from England, is it ok if I cheer for them anyway?
Speaking of which, I've got my England car flag proudly flying from my truck and a new red England shirt. Yeah, I'm onboard but fully expect to be disappointed yet again. No worries. They haven't won anything since the year of my birth so what else is new? This time will be different. LOL.
GO ENGLAND. GO GERRARD!

No Ballack no problem!!!!
What an awsome game last night!!! I got back from Munich very very late last night after watching Deutschland win!!!!!! They put up one screen in the main square of Muncih right in front of the big castle like municipal building. We got there right at game time and needless to say that we did not get a very good place to stand. We were also off to the side and it was one of those screens that where you could not see any thing from the sides (I forgot what those are called??). It was so packed that we went into the mall about 5 miunutes in and went to a department store that sold TVs to watch the game. There were about 15 TVs on display and the place was packed with about 1000 people I think. I did get to watch the rest of the game there in peace though. It was a highly entertaining high scoring game and the parties on the streets were pretty good after the game as well. I will say this though. I was a bit disappointed. I was expecting Red Mile X 10 last night but after last night I think I can say that the Red Mile in 2004 was just as good if not better than the party in Munich after the Deutschland win last night.
After the game we went to a pub called the Hauptbrau house which could be the best pub that I have ever been to in my life. One liter beer mugs, great food, and roudy German soccer fans made the place amazing. There were an unusual amount of Mexican fans there last night which surprised me. I dont think they are playing in Munich soon. A small U-S-A chant was started by some Americans but that chant was completely destroyed with a loud DEUTSCH-LAND chant.
I think I have the worlds worst hangover right now. I have not stopped drinking sine I got here and last night was one of the biggest nights thus far. I cant wait for the next game.
I did manage to get tickets to the Iran vs. Portugal match on the 17th in Frankfurt. I am going to the World Cup!!!!!!! My friend managed to get Germany vs. Ecuador tickets for a cool $400.00 CAD.
Well I am going back to sleep for a while. Enjoy the games back in Calgary.

1-0 to England at the half.
Crouch has looked good to me; a real handful. He's not getting the best luck out of the referee however.
The two England fullbacks, Cole and Neville, have been terrible imo. I honestly believe that Carragher would be a better choice over Neville at RB.
Still, England usually starts tournaments poorly, and they're a goal to the good without playing real well.

Ok, the result was good for England but I hate Eriksson's sit back tactics. They drive me nuts. It will cost England at some point if they're not careful.
Dull game overall. Again, I thought that Crouch did quite well at both ends of the pitch and was largely victimized by the Mexican referee. He had nobody to knock the ball down to though, and was basically totally isolated, as England were playing so deep. I really don't understand the coaches way of thinking here.
I guess a win's a win but England could be so much better with a more progressive coach imo.
