They couldn't rent cars because the clue is usually explicit in how they are to get from one place to another. In that case, it most likely told them to take a cab to Sunshine. One thing I noticed, however, is that the cabs they went up to the ski hill on were not the same cabs they left the airport in. The ones at the hill had ski racks on the tops.

It looked to me that they picked up their winter gear on their way into Calgary somewhere. Of course that part isn't shown, but judging by the fact that all the teams had pretty much the same stuff (those goofy maple leaf touques, and the Columbia winter coats), I'd say they were probably given those items. Either that or shopped at the same place...

As for what airlines they use, I don't really know how that works, but I'd be willing to bet that there's some sort of agreement with certain airlines that they're to use them and them only for specific portions.

Maybe it was only cause I saw the last episode, but Colin gave his props to the winning team and seemed like a good sport the whole way, only blaming himself and really keeping it together. That was a weak show however and I won't watch again, unless Calgary is involved again.
I wanted Colin/Christie to win so bad over that useless couple that caught a break.
I don't get how a team can make up so much ground, and end up being ahead at the end of the day, yet because of a flight everyone gets to catch up, theres absolutely no incentive at all to go faster in these types of competitions. They should just have all the clues ready at each station and let them go. I bet Colin and Christie would have won by a week.

Thank God they can't rent cars....they would be a menace on the road. There's a lawsuit waiting to happen. (Not that the one cab driver in Dallas was any safer!)

I guess the point of of making things even every once in a while is to make sure that the teams that make it to the end have to be good every leg. If teams could go at their own pace, they could have 3 amazing legs in a row and 2 terrible ones and still be in first. this way, the teams have to be on the ball every time. The teams that slip up just once could be out in an instant. I like it that way, you have to be consistently good to win.

I've watched only four or five episodes this year, but it's a good show. I was cheering for Chip and Kim the whole way, so I was happy with the outcome.

Did anybody know about that strange FCC rule about how you can't transfer to a different flight if your luggage is still on the first flight? First time I've heard about something like that.

The reason why you saw different cabs from the airport to Sunshine was there was an event they edited out in Banff. They had to build teepees there but because of the riveting airport scenes  they took it out.

How could you possibly know that?

No, they won because the other two teams checked in their luggage into a flight they didn't want to take, thus removing any chance they had of getting onto an earlier flight via standby.

It was a costly error and one that likely cost them a million dollars.

Oddly enough I was at Sunshine last winter and I saw agroup of people snowshoeing up Goats Eye and later on up Divide. I couldn't figure out what the hell they were doing, but it makes a little more sense now. It was a fairly large group, so I'm assuming it was either a film crew or people scouting the different terrain on the mountain.

From the looks of it the contestants went from the top of Angel Chair to the top of Divide over the mens DH course, which can be done in about 20 minutes by someone in less than reasonable physical fitness. If they were in waist deep pow instead of a groomer I'm sure not even baby jeebus could have stopped the crying fits that would have occurred.

awesome show!!! I'm just happy Colin and Christie did not win. Christie is whiny and a victim while Colin is a crazy tempermental wife beater. The best team won Chip and Kim!!! I'm always happy when those that have a family win

How is he a wife beater? He yelled at her what two times and both times I am sure most people would have acted in the same manner. If a million dollars was on the line and my partner was being lazy I would yell at them also and tell them to get their sh*t together. Not once did I see him lay a finger on her, or do anything that would make me believe that he is a wife beater. They were the best team. Chip and Kim sucked at most tasks but due to the way the game is set up they caught a huge and I mean huge break.

the man's not completely stupid, do you really think he would start smacking his girl around with tv cameras all over? Although his actions otherwise makes one wonder, if he was that aggressive and vocal in this type of forum, what is he capable of behind closed doors?

the man's not a wife beater. they're not married yet.

Because they had the pictures of them building teepees at televisionwithoutpity.com
Thats why chip and kim were so far behind the other two teams at sunshine.

Did you watch any other episodes other than last nite's finale? He would freak out every week almost getting thrown into an African jail. They would always feature Colin in "scenes from next week" freaking out.

I have to admit Colin and Christie were very entertaining to watch. Calgary fog comes through!

I saw the past 4 ones and from what I saw he wasn't no bible boy but he wasn't a wife beater. Argueing with a girlfriend is a long ways off from a wife beater.

The FAA regulations were adopted after the Air India Bombing I think and it is a way of combating the bombing of a plane.

Colin just proposed to Christie on bended knee with ring and everything in a feeble attempt to steal C&K's spotlight. Christie said yes, only when prompted by Harry Smith. She really didn't look like she wanted to say yes.

None of them deserved to win, I should have
In reality though, taxes in the states will take a fair chunk of their million. And they don't get it in one lump sum like Canada, they spread it out over quite a few years. That million dollars is not too much these days. You still have to work. Just let's you buy a few toys.

But if it was not foggy in Calgary then the teams all would have been on the early flight. Colin and Chrisite would have whipped Chip and Kim once in Dallas based on their better ability in the maze and their cab driver.

But if the last task of the second last leg of the race wasn't exceptionally grueling, Colin and Christie would have been eliminated.

But if the third last leg wasn't a non-elimination round, Colin and Christie would have been eliminated.

In fact, of the last four teams, Chip and Kim were the only team to NEVER finish last! The other three teams were lucky to even be in the final four.
