listen 'outdoor type' i camp everywhere from mt. kidd to back country. it is still fun at mt kidd for lots of reasons. If you have real small kids or kids just learning to ride bikes there are good paths, but still out in nice country (as opposed to an RV park)
i don't think you can get hook ups for the tent sites anyways.

I can't believe I've NEVER spent the night in Waterton. I've driven through a couple of times but never camped or stayed at the hotels. I will have to make it a must do before the summer is over

While we are on this topic...does anyone know of any campsites within an hour or two of the city that supply firewood? It is such a pain hauling (and paying for) those bags at the gas station.

A lot of the campgrounds in the Kananaskis area sell firewood at the campground itself. Gone are the days of free firewood in massive bins as was the case a few years ago.

Not exactly what you are looking for but it saves you from having to haul it out with you I guess.

Yeah, at the Kananaskis campgrounds they have guys driving around to all the campsites selling a couple twigs for 5 bucks. Luckily I always have a little bit of space in the van to take firewood with me, but even then, I miss the days where you could light a fire in the morning and keep it going until you went to bed that night. Gotta love the campfire.

Mt. Kidd is convenient in a lot of ways. And of course it's gorgeous country, so that's a plus, obviously. I don't know, there's just something about the tennis courts and arcades that really kills it for me.

It is a really nice place for little kids, though, with the wading pool and the nice trails. I'll probably appreciate that area more in 10 years when convenience and comfort takes more precedence over 'being one with nature'.
