How about children's Christmas Peagents at public schools? They're gone, due to fears that they may offend somebody....

Yep! And the only PC group to offend right now are WAPS's and Catholics.

Some immigration is good, but we have been too heavily dependant upon it. We need to raise our birthrate to at least stabilize our domestic population.

The big problem is not whether people are religious or not... its selfishness.

People typically only think about themselves, and lets face it, you can have more fun and more money with no kids. Or, you can a lot more spare money with only one kid. Many people can't afford more than one or two and thats fine. But there are tons of people who could easily afford to have three or four properly adjusted children who want for nothing while maintaining a decent lifestyle. But... there's $3 hi-balls at the club, and I want the BMW M5 rather than the M3, and I want, I want, I want... religion does help people to be a little more selfless, but I don't think its mutually exclusive by any means.

Its also very shortsighted, cause when people retire, if there aren't enough young people to replace them with the same (or better) credentials, there's less income, and less money for programs that people tend to rely upon (CPP, Healthcare, etc.). Immigration is not a long term solution, since its essentially poaching the best and brightest from other countries, and their credentials may or may not match what our society needs. Replacement rate is 2.1 children, and all Western countries should strive to hit that number.

You can have more money without kids but I found having a family lots of fun. I reached a point in my life where I wanted to devote my time and money to a family and this became very satisfying. More and more people never reach this maturity or if they do it's too late.

Also truck drivers have been able to not wear hardhats because they would not be able to wear their turbins.

Just a few examples of MANY
I don't know anything about Sharia law in Ontario, but I do know it never meant a damn thing to me. I never had a traditional value threatened or taken away from me. Neither did you.

As for the mounties -- first of all it's not a business. Secondly, it's not one of my "traditional values" that a mountie wear a particular hat. I wasn't raised to believe that mounties should be wearing this hat or that hat. Were you? That turban thing has always seemed really strange to me. I mean really, what's the difference if the cop has a badge on his turban or a hat? I love the old "it's tradition to wear hat X". No it's not. The mountie tradition is a red serge and a horse, but since we are in the modern world and things change, the uniform evolved. And I'm pretty sure that in 2006 there are a few people around wearing turbans that are not immigrants.

I never heard the thing about truck drivers but if that's the case, well, tough break. I wasn't raised on a traditional belief that said a trucker should be wearing a hard hat.

The Christmas pageants -- does anyone really care or do you just want something to gripe about? When is the last time you guys went to a Christmas pageant? And if you really do need to see one, if a Christmas pageant is one of your "traditional values", go to a church. I'm not an immigrant and I don't want public schools teaching those myths to children anyway and you can't blame immigrants for that, trust me.

I like the fact there's less bagpipe music at Canada Day celebrations, and more of that funky Latino and Carribean stuff. Although the Chinese drums and cymbals are still a gawdawful racket.

Dunlop, you've got the wrong name for dissing the bagpipes.

Looking at Alberta and Ontario is cool as you can see where the economic boom of Alberta and how immigration in Ontario skews the baby boomers.
