Theres a burger place on 17th ave, just east of kilarny pool. I think its called Giant Hamburgers or something. It's run by a family of asian people and they make the best damn burger I've ever had. They use huge patties, fresh vegetables, and the bbq sauce they have is just out of this world. And they really are giant hamburgers, I sometimes have trouble finishing the double burgers.

I haven't seen the chain anywhere else though.

In answer to the question; although I like lettuce and tomato on my burger; I have to say I prefer Peters for some reason.

Now; I have a question for the rest of you. Does anybody know of a place in Calgary that makes burgers like Juniors or George's in Winnipeg. The only way I can describe it is a Greek style burger; the big thing is the chilli on the burger. My sister thinks I'm nuts because when I go back to Winnipeg I have to get a burger from there.

Boogies Burgers makes both of them look like a fast food joint.

May 13, 2005 (CIDRAP News) – Sixteen people have fallen sick and one is hospitalized with Escherichia coli O157:H7, most of them after drinking milk shakes at a popular drive-in restaurant in Calgary, Alta.
The Calgary Health Region traced the outbreak to a longtime employee of Peters' Drive-In, according to the Calgary Herald. The employee reportedly came to work despite being ill. She made a marshmallow milk shake mix that was served at Peters' from Apr 22 to 26, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) reported on May 10.

I've never been to Burger Inn, but after reading this I really want to try it.

Peter's - I love the sauce, and the shoe box of fries. Also, a marshmallow choclolate milkshare is the greatest thing ever

Boogie's - Mmmmmm so good. Always get the jerk sauce.

If you're in sunnyside you're in luck.
Boogies is on Edmonton Trail at about 8th ave (don't quote me on the th ave bit, I'm not 100% sure, I just know where to go), it's on the east side of Edmonton trail anyway.

They closed the Burger Inn that was on 36th NE. Burgers & fries are better from Burger Inn (burgers by a bit, fries by a mile - Peters fries suck). Ice Cream things from Peters is better than anywhere else (kicks DQ ass).

I loved the e-coli thing. For a couple months after, I could go to Peter's with no line-ups! And after that outbreak, I'd be willing to bet that was the most sanitary place in the city.

Has anything changed?

I love that they post the prices with GST included. I hate having to add 7% in my head to figure out wha the total should be. I wish more places did that. You can show me how much GST I paid on my receipt, but show the TOTAL price on the menu/pricetag.

He He He, this brings up an interesting point.
Come July 1 is peter's going to lower their prices?
If they don't will people get mad at them for doig essentially the same thing that the city is doing with the provincial tax rebate?
Will we see a therad about Peter's stealing our money?
I doubt it, and they aren't really comparables but the concept is the same (maybe even worse as one is going to pay for cops and the other is direct profit for a store owner).

I am now done hijacking the thread, please ignore the post above.

Well, there's usually something scribbled on the bag, or misc. piece of paper.

Thanks. Thats even better because I am moving to the Crescent Heights area come June 01 (the only bad thing is that I will now have NE on my address). Peters and Boogies within a short walk - wwwicked.

Nope, everything's the same. I suspect Gus sold it to owners that would maintain the core vision of the place. I also suspect that a condition of the sale was that they not franchise Peter's.
