Speaking of hip hop covers I heard the Dynamite Hack version of Boyz In The Hood the other day. That song always cracked me up.

I found a punk cover of genie in a bottle, it was really good. The Fabulous kildonans cover Bus Rider by the Guess who, I liked that one.
Pretty much anything by Me First and the Gimme Gimmes.

Metallica has done some amazing covers, but my favourite has to be their version of "Astronomy". Originally a great song by Blue Oyster Cult, Metallica took it and really turned it up to eleven...absolutely awesome cover.

I'm sorry I know that song choice is personal opinion, but the first time I heard that song and everyother time I've heard it, the first thing that comes to mind is the tradgedy that Motley Crue commited on that song.

What a Wonderful World - Nick Cave and Shane McGowan.
No greater irony than a morose junkie and a hopeless drunk singing perhaps the world's happiest song.
Teenage Fanclub's Like a Virgin is pretty cool too.
