Eastern europe (Poland,Czech, Romania, etc) is alot less costly then Western europe and there are still alot of great sites to see. Also better if you are looking to meet girls as they are way more impressed by tourists. The fact that most young people speak English is also a plus.


Mexico/ Latin America is cheaper, with a better climate. Girls go ga-ga over light complexion/blue eyes. The downside is English is much less prevalent there. If you stay at hostels though you should be able to find someone to travel with that can speak at least rudimentary Spanish.

If you can score a cheap flight, you can spend a long time in Vietnam or Thailand on the cheap.
I spent three weeks in Vietnam (mind you, it was about 8-9 years ago) and spent less than $500, which included a flight from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City, all food, transport, rooms, beer, rum, beer, sping rolls and tourist stuff.
That said, I've been really keen on doing an all-inclusive somewhere though, and if you've got a very set budget, that might work as well.

Hey guys, thanks for all the input.

I'm not really looking to party too much, I have a girlfriend who won't be coming so I don't want to get myself in trouble. I am looking for something low-key and 'culture rich' rather than to party that's why I probably wouldn't do one of those tours, I heard they are pretty rowdy.

I don't need comfort, I've got a good backpack. I definately want to check out Thailand at some point but the girlfriend wants me to wait for her to do that one.

I've thought about going to through BC to the island. I love that country, but I would have to put some work into my vehicle.

I checked out some travel dvd's at the library. Central America--Belize, Guatemala, Costa Rica might be another option.

Yeah, lots of good eco tourism options in those country's. I've never been to Guatemala myself, but a couple of Aussies I hung around with in Brazil absolutely loved it. They also mentioned that it was pretty cheap there too so once you get there your money should last.
