I can't seem to use draft picks in a trade either.

I've been playing these games for PC since '98, 04 was the worst they've ever done. 05 has problems still but also has a lot of improvements. I agree with the button assignments(the game pads have this issue as well), no fantasy draft in dynasty mode, the menus are still a bit challenging, but at least there's not missing info like 04. if you could put the interface of 02 into 05 you'd have the perfect game.

They totally messed with the interface, why can't I use my mouse to just click a guys name and cycle through the line up?

The controls are a little wonky, I will have to get out my game pad and fix it up. I wasn't to impressed however.

The trading is kind of goofy as well, mostly because of the interface again.
Yeah, I agree. It'll take me a while to get used to it. But overall I think the game is better than 2004. Since there's no demo for it I was forced to download it to try it but it's on it's way from Futureshop. I really like how the goalies arnt magnetic anymore and that you can score goals in a variety of ways. From a add-on maker's point of view it's nice to see there's two sets of goalie equipment. I also dont think the game is as fast as some people complain it is. I havent even touched the sliders yet and it doesnt seem that bad. It's too fast for my liking but not by much so the sliders should get it to a speed I like.

Is this game available everywhere now? The Future Shop Web site says it's taking orders but won't be released til Sept. 20. If it's in stores now I'll pick it up tonight as it may be the only hockey this year.

Best Buy is supposed to have it. EB Games in Sunridge did have it when I was there at lunch.

Just under $50 though... If it was priced at $30, I'd already own it. I'm not sure I want to spend $50 on a game though.

It looks like I'm lucky to be getting it on XBOX. The problems you guys seem to be having have to do with interface, game play on keyboards seems to be a problem.....Hopefully these things won't be an issue on XBOX.

Thanks Calc...that is a lot to pay for a game but if I spend one night at home playing it rather than going to the bar, it'll pay for itself. I'll head to Sunridge tonight.

Well then based on these reply's maybe this isn't such a sure bet to buy. I never liked 2004 really and if this is worse then that, then count me out. I'll spend my money on Madden then.

Do what everyone should do. Try it and if you dont like it dont buy it. Nobody should let other people's opinions influence which games they buy.

That exactly it. If you love console games, NHL 2005 is for you. Not meant for PC this year. Hopefully next year they even release a PC version.

Ya the guy made a program to fix it somehow at

http://suchy63.rhlmod.ru/files/nhl2005/keys2005.zip

I've always hated the PC version because of the stupid menus crap. Why do they spend more than 5 minutes programming crap like that which doesn't even matter. [/b][/quote]
oh THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU....

now if only I could download it.... :crap:

Thanks anyways Fotze. It's just my luck with this game. When I bought it, I came home and threw it in the cd-rom drive. As soon as the damn thing closed, my power went out for an hour.

Well, here are some more impressions of the game.

The goalies fights are awesome, I didn't play NHL 2004 much at all, is this new? Its alot of fun.

Also, did anyone else notice youo can sign UFA MuchMusic VJ Rick Campanelli? That is awfully stupid. What is funny is his age, 34. He dresses like a 14 year old.

There is definetely some wierd things in this game and it boggles my mind... like that little kid in the Free agent list?? what the hell?

Another thing, I don't remember this game being such a hitfest when I played the XBox version in Vancouver, but the PC version is just insane, even with the sliders set all the way to the bottom.

If you play on "Difficult" the A.I. is alot smarter and it seems the hitting is reduced somewhat.

In closing... i'm not suprised dave warfield was let go, it seems like a different game than what I played a month ago... It seems like he went all out in the arcadeness in the final month of tweaking...

Yeah that little kid was weird..

The other thing that is weird is that Dave warfield is in the UFAs and no Nhl players are really in the UFAS right now from what I can see

Apparently I was right regarding the XBox version vs PC, a guy at Cyber-NHL has the XBox version and posted some differences.
