I would recommend as Troutman did the Piato Greek House on Edmonton Trail and 8th Ave. Great atmosphere and service. I would try to make a reservation just to be sure.

My dad ended up there a while back with some business friends. He didn't know the place at all, and he ordered a wine. The barbie doll came back and told him they didn't have white, they had "red" or "clear".And the minute he found out it was from a box, he left and came home.

I can't remember the name of it right now, I think it's like Bolecinos. Anyways it's on the way to the Dome, on 12th right across from the school there. It's fantastic food and cheap.

The other suggestion I have is El Sombrero, an amazing Mexican place on 17th ave in between 4th and 5th street. It's right beside...Mink? I think?

Well I never!!!

I actually had a conversation with the people who run the place on Wednesday night. It's a family operation, the son and daughter got their Dad to run the kitchen while they work everything else. They've only been open for 4 months, so I guess she hasn't become a wine expert yet.

Anyways, if you want good food, head down there. If you want to get all snooty and swig grape juice then I'm sure there are wine and cheese events.

What about that liquor store next to the Drop In center downtown? Do they sell good wine, or is it all "out of the box"?

Marathon Ethiopian Cuisine in Kensington is fun and not too expensive. Great food too.

Haha, I went down there one of the first nights that I lived in Calgary, since I lived in an apartment just down the road, and my wife was still out of town. Didn't know the area at all, saw that there was a pub there, so I went in.

Holy white trash!! Actually it's not a bad place to go for a little pick-me-up. Anytime you think your life is too miserable, head down there and see that you don't really have it all that bad.
