Thanks all, this will be a good start. I didn't specify, I wasn't so much looking for driving music as for music once the fire is lit and the beers are popped. But I think lots of this will apply to both.
The indy stuff and forgotten favs like Sugue Sugue (since I'm an 80s guy at heart) are appreciated.

Those are just from a random pile of cds lying on my bookshelf.
Seriously, I could go on and on. Get anything with Joe Strummer associated with it.

Nothing like throwing a little Raggae in there. Try Gregory Issacs or UB40.

Did you manage to dig up a copy of B-Sides and Rarities? Wow... really... I was blown away at the Deanna acoustic cover and then it kicks right into Mercy Seat. Amazing.
What's your favourite Cave album?

The Eastern Girl and I are in complete agreement.
But if you are looking for good driving music try that
Van Morrison guy. Even bargain bin stuff is worthwhile.
But Moondance is brilliant. Just don't play it till your sure everything is Smooth.
Speaking of which,Santana's Supernatural covers a lot of different singers and a lot of interesting beats which allows you to find her type of music.
We had a similar thread that might be worth searching for. A ton of good suggestions in that thread.

Good list, mine would be pretty similar (with a few omissions).
For me, I'd also add:
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Rammstein
Tom Petty
Abandoned Pools (for people listing indie stuff, try them!)
Gorillaz
Dave Matthews Band
Marylin Manson
Green Day
Counting Crows
Marcy Playground
Simon and Garfunkel
Nightwish

Hey where is the Grateful Dead or the Allmans or Van or Poco, or JJ Cale? Or ....,
The beatles at 103 ? Nice list !
So, I am not familiar with the top ten.
Half of those bands never had Buddy Holly figured out .
Sorry.
I haven't found many new 33's to buy lately.

Off topic, but seems like a good place to ask.
Where in Calgary can you get a good selection of iPod accessories? FutureShop (etc) suck ass, is their a superior Apple store?
Claeren.

I'm really suprised no one has mentioned Maximo Park yet. I'd give them a look if you like Artic Monkeys. Another band worth checking out is Clap Your Hands Say Yeah. Also, there is the band Showroom who have a great new CD out ( http://www.showroommusic.com/news/index.html) Hope you like them!

Yes...Mad Caddies rule. If you want something nice and mellow give the song "Popcorn" a listen. "Macho Nachos" is another one of my Mad Caddies favorites.
