I don't really see the big deal about HD TV. I guess I don't "love" TV enough to need that kind of detail.

It is truly awful how compressed the HD streams are now. You can see constant Macro Blocking during any motion - CSI is especially bad when they do the flash back scenes. You can see it during hockey as well. Additionally, HD appears more fuzzy than it used to.
There was a time, about 3 years ago, when HD was way better. The first time I watched a football game on CBS HD, you could see the white stars on the american flag on the refs jersey. Now, you are lucky if you can read the nameplates on the players.
Yes, Granted, HD is better than regular SD (much better). But, why should we be happy to accept something that is not as good as it can be? Especially when we are charged more for it (on Bell). We shouldnt be happy with this 'HD Light'.

That's the price you pay for having 27 HD channels on BEV. They only have so much bandwith.
I don't know how much macroblocking you have, but I'd check my coax connections/splitters etc, they can cause it too.
I don't experience any MB on Shaw and they do go thru a lot more gear to get to your house than on any sattelite system.

BellExV's Dual tuner HD PVR is $599 or $25 a month to rent plus incentives. Fair deal if you don't mind dealing with Bell.

One more thing to add, Bell's HD receivers come with an over the air capability which will allow those of you with HD ready sets to pick up local stations when they switch to HD transmission. From what I hear this is the best picture quality. Toronto residents already have 4 HD stations plus with an antennae they can pick up Buffalo. Vancouver has 2 stations, Calgary willl follow.

Except for those with tons of money and there are lots of them, even just in our city. I think that Doherty woman's house had 6 plasmas, maybe 8, I can't remember.

LOL, no the local Doherty's, as in Lea Williams-Doherty. I can only wish I'd been in Shannon's house.

In a recent publication of IEEE magazine, they stated that analog TV will be extinct by 2009 (think it was NA, might have been Europe). In other words, stations will no longer provide analog channels, only digital.
It will catch on.

In the US, the FCC has sold the analog spectrum. As of Apr.7, 2009 analog must end and all broadcasts must be digital. People with analog TVs will need to get a set-top box to convert the didgital signals to analog for their TV.
In Canada, the CRTC decided not to mandate a fixed change-over date but instead let the free market decide.

Would that the hypocrites with the CRTC took that attitude more often...
