I'm 23 and am thinning pretty quickly up there. So shaved my head to see how it would look...and now am anticipating baldness.

Balding is a sign of impending death...
Have you ever seen a bald man that didn't eventually die!?!??!

Doesn't bother me none! I actually agree with what you are saying KG, but I figure if someone lets the amount of hair they have effect their confidence level, they've got more problems then you want to know about anyhow. It's something superficial like that that probably has them (still) being single to begin with, perhaps?

And I know Habby's post comes somewhat in light of all the recent talk of NHL'ers using hair growth products and I would think, single or not, the size of their wallets would more than compensate for their male pattern baldness.

My grandfather never had any hair and it always looked ok to me. Mines been thinning for years and most definitely looks better when it's short. And it isn't a big deal.

The NHLer thing is funny, you think Reinprecht or Regehr or Chris Phillips etc had problems getting the ladies? "Hi, I'm an NHL player, what's your name?"

I've got a friend who used to mention it all the time and joke about it and once he finally shut up about it people stopped paying as much attention.
I probably won't go bald but I'm getting some gray hairs, it used to be manageable with the tweezers but now it's getting to be too much.

How many hairs constitute a full set? 50,000? 60,000?

26 and a user of the anti-thinning stuff. I have an irregular shaped head and still have my soft spot )probably because my brain is larger then the average persons so I need the extra cranial room). The thing that ****es me off the most is that I thin on top while gain on the regions where I really wish I wouldn't
The fiance doesn't seem to mind but I still wanna lock her up quick while I still have some of my good looks in tact---> my smilies don't work either

Funny topic. Ive never worried about my mop. Its been thinning for years but has reached its apex per se and looks good as far as Im concerned. I could really care less about it and for the most part get a Number 2 buzz cut most of the year, as Im too lazy to spend time doing a do in the morning anyways. Its always a benefit to simply get up and run a damp facecloth over your head and your ready to go! Larf!!!

I have had NUMEROUS friends who have spent thousands of dollars over the years trying to regain something atop their mountain. 99% has been a waste and a good laff, as even the smallest amount of peach fuzz doesnt constitute a full head of hair.
I guess if you are that paranoid about baldness hair transplants, or plugs would be the way to go...Elton John was quite bald before that procedure. Somehow having thousands of needles pushed into my scalp for the sake of vanity simply has no appeal at all to me. But hey...if you have the coin and the disposition...go for it.

As to the single and bald comment.....IF a woman decides that you are less appealing because of the dome....then I suggest she isnt looking inside for answers anyways. Steer away from those women...they are obviously quite shallow anyways.

Oh one more thang....the drugs and topical creams do NOT work and have adverse effects...stay away!

I pray for going bald. No hat head, no shampoo, no gel, no brushing the hair. Think of the time-saving alone!

My brother is going bald, and at a good rate. He has told me he would do anything if he had the money to have more hair growth, he just hates it.
I always tell him I'll save him my hair clippings next time I get it cut, that doesn't seem to help.

I used to worry about a receding hairline. Then I lost all my hair. Lemme tell ya, eyebrows are a lot more important than people think. The upside is no shampoo haircuts or shaving.
 Perspective is everything I'm told.

The bass player in my band started losing his hair at around age 16. For all of grade 12 he wore this communist revolutionary style hat that he got in Cuba. Then in university he up and decided to just shave it all off. Since then I can't remember what he looks like with hair. That being said, he's one of the hairiest mother-****ers I've ever seen...just not on top!
I sometimes worry that I'm losing my hair, but that's usually when I end up with it being really long, I always seem to have handfuls of it in the shower. I've buzzed my head a few times though, gotta say, it's mighty nice. That and at times I end up looking like Justin Timberlake (waiting for Incinerator to show up) which doesn't hurt with the ladies...just the men.

...This comes from my Trichology class for Cosmetology:

Average hairs on the head ranges anywhere from 80,000 (red hair) to 140,000 (blonde hair).

So apparently that constitutes a full set. |

Damn red hair, I don't have much to start with!

Women should do something about their hairgrowth. Balding women is not attractive, and shaving their heads.... Only really works for a few women. Men can be bald and sexy, they just have to not worry about it.

Anybody here on Nioxin? Wanting to know if that stuff actually works.
I'm 22 and I have a high hairline, a huge widow's peak, and thin hair... but I have enough to pull off a nice look with medium hair length.

Reason I ask is that my dad has a receeded hair line, but he's still got relatively thick hair from the top-centre of his head to the back. However, if you look at him from the front, it looks like he's lost his hair up there. My grandfather (on my mom's side) had thin hair, but managed to keep his hair into his mid-80's.

Just found out that my uncle has been using Nioxin for 20 years... and here I just thought he had naturally thick hair. Had no idea he was using it; could have fooled me.

So my question is should I use this stuff? Apparently it just prevents hair loss; it doesn't do anything for hair growth. I've got nice hair right now (not thick, but not too thin either), and while I don't mind going bald one day, I a) will keep my hair if I can, and b) will end up looking really bad with a shaved head at this point, since I'm too scrawny to have one. |

My hair is so thick it's ridiculous. Stubborn and unmanagable at any length. My dad is almost 50, has all his hair, and only has about 4 grey hairs, his mom is over 80 and is only slightly grey.
Sometimes I wish my hair was a bit thinner.
