Just be aware of the forum culture here. Pretty much what long term posters are telling you should be taken seriously. If you abide by the rules and be civil, you will no doubt be a welcomed addition. We do not tolerate ######ation and idiotcy here.
Anyway, welcome new members.

No worries, the immature posters from cf.com aren't nearly clever enough to find this website. The smart users will though, and many of them already have accounts here. They just don't post too often.

Yes, that is me. Well it is nice without all of the Canuck trolls. I look forward to talking to everyone about the Flames and other topics!

There are Canuck fans here, and they aren't too bad. Watch out for the trolls if the Flames and Canucks meet in the playoffs though.

Holy over-reaction, Batman!
Sure some of us from cf.com will make our way over here but the majority of us are not 13-year old girls and are able to discuss hockey and other manners intelligently. We aren't stupid. We know to read the rules.
Anyways, thanks to those who are at least willing to welcome us without some sort of attack.
To those who have "inside sources" at cf.com...Is there anyone we can contact to protest this shut down?

Another refugee from the CF board here. I am sorry if my post will mostly make sense to the users of the other forum.
I read the topic as well and it was probably a little more than the cartoon. I had a feeling that Hedley was going to cause something like this.
The executive probably wanted to play it safe. After all, that message board was a part of the Flames official site. I would find it funny if someone in the print media, looking for a story, came up with the headline Calgary Flames Website Stands up for Free Speech: Visitors Post Muhammad Cartoons, Call Islam a Death Cult but I don't think that the club would laugh.
In my opinion, the mods dropped the ball by not enforcing their own rules immediately. Heck, Drak even reposted the rules in that topic.
Having said that, I am sad that the majority of people who love hockey and who had nothing to do with the topic lost the message board.

Welcome to the board. I'm not picking on you specifically but I don’t want this thread to turn into a big discussion about what the Flames board Mods/Owners/whoever decided to do and whether it was right or wrong. We generally don't allow discussions and whatnot from other boards but obviously this is a special circumstance.
To all the cf.com posters, welcome. Read the guidelines and enjoy yourselves.

Freedom of Speech is irrelevent. The Flames have every right to shut down their forum for any reason, valid or otherwise. It is a shame they shut the forum down over this, but one can't fault a buisness for being a little over sensitive, even if I doubt that the radical muslim population forms a significant part of their fanbase. Better safe than sorry, I guess.

Why would we want this to be the "official" board... if that means some exec/suit says i'm allowed to post only what they see fit, then cya later. I'll start my own... or try to, and find out its not easy, and give up... come back here and be censored.
sigh.
edit:
Expect the whole board to explode with new users. I got fed up over there and hence why i finally joined here after just reading...
I bet you if they posted a picture of christ, a buddah (sp?) or something else.. argh. makes me mad.
Freedom of speech. If people don't like it, go to another forum. Too bad it was somone with some pull.

They'll probably bring it back. They've done this before as a sort of "cooling off" period.

I've had an account on Calgarypuck while my main posting area is in cf.com (Same name on cf)
And I've read posts on here, and this is where HOCKEY FANS (not puck bunnies and Vancouver or Edmonton trolls) come and discuss. Because I rarely see any Vancouver/Edmonton fans bashing our team/players illegitimately.
