So you're saying something like Halifax, a city with about 360,000 people, have more Timmy's than our Mac's, 7-11s, and Starbucks combined!? How do they all manage to stay afloat unless every man woman & child go to Timmy's everyday for breakfast lunch & dinner? Is there no other fast food chains over there at all? Timmys have a monopoly?

But do Maritime cities have significant downtowns? I know in downtown Ottawa there are only three Tim Hortons and they've just been built in the past few years. But once you get to the suburbs, there are Tim Horton's everywhere. The suburban campus of my former employer had two onsite and they were always busy.

Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying. I think Halifax has more total locations and Moncton has more locations per capita than any other city in Canada.

Tims has a veritable monopoly on coffee in Atlantic Canada. Starbucks, Second Cup, etc., hasn't been able to crack into that market.
If you go to the Store Locator feature on Tim's website and search for locations within a 5KM radius of each city, this is what you get:
Halifax (population: 380,000): 45 stores
Moncton (population: 120,000): 22 stores
Calgary (population: 1,100,000): 18 stores
Saint John (population: 130,000): 16 stores

The downtown core of Calgary is about equal in size to that of Halifax and only slightly larger than Saint John's. Moncton has a fairly small downtown, though.

Altlantic Canada is swimming with Tim Hortons. Its crazy down there. I was last there is 2001 in a town called antigonsish, not even 10 000 people. There were 3 Tim Hortons, just in this little town. Downright ridiculous.
Slave Lake just got a new timmys.........just PACKED all the time.

I hate to tell you this, but Calgary is more than 10km from one side to another.
Enter 10 miles (the bigest number they have) and you get 62 in Calgary. That is, within 10 miles of about 4th street and 20 ave NW. (which is what they come up as being the default Calgary location.
10 miles from my house (which is about 18 miles from where they call the centre) you see 26 of them. So that means there's at least 80 in Calgary.

And if you enter 10 miles for Halifax, you also get 80 stores, despite Halifax having about 1/3 the population of Calgary.
I'm sure some of the guys from Saint John or Maritime-Q-Scout will back me up on this one...Atlantic Canada is just bursting at the seams with Tims locations. You may think there's a lot here in Calgary, but trust me, it pales to how many there are on the East coast.

I'm not doubting that there's a lot of Tim Hortons' in Eastern Canada. But when you pick 2 metropolitan areas, and use the same number of square miles, then population has little to do with it.
And yes, with your example it shows about 30% more stores in that same sized area.

I am sure Timmy's cares little, as they have a damn monopoly on Coffee in Canada these days. They have a Tims on every damn corner in most cities, and the amount of coffee they sell in the mornings alone can justify that.
If you look at most Tim Hortons Drive-Thru's in the mornings, you'll see how packed they are. That is how the Timmy's drive-thru looks ALL DAY on the Timmy's that are located on military bases here in Canada. The get so much damn business from the military it's not even funny. We support the hell out of them, and frankly I think it would be nice for them to support us in return.
The soliders aren't asking for a damn handout...they all have cash over there, and nowhere else to spend it. I am sure they would do just fine if they set-up shop over there. Especially since they could send in all their crap via military transport if they wanted.
As for when the Canadians pull out??? Then what?? Well, they aren't. Canada will be there for the long haul...believe me.
Thanks Nieuwy-89...nice to see someone pulling for the soldiers to get a little taste of home. While it seems rather minor and trivial...small things like that can keep the troops going over there.

They don't have to open a store over there, but sending some coffee makers and coffee would be appreciated by the troops.
