Ok, this needs to stop. I already ended it by admitting that I missed the joke, why let it run on?

Also what's with people admitting who's on their ignore list? As if people give 2 hoots?

Had a Bull Mastiff/Yellow Lab cross. Beauty dog and a gentle as a summer day. Would watch the kids like a hawk to keep them safe but they weren't allowed to "play" with him. Just too big.

Now if this was a pitbull there would be a largely different wide spread opinion on this story.

Golden Retrievers are awesome dogs. I would love to have one, one day. Too bad about the little girl.

Now back off topic.... It was obviously a joke from Fotze.... but YOU ALL NEED TO RELAX!! Why does everyone jump on Jordon as soon as one person jumps on him? Is it because it's cool? It's getting pretty played out. I think we should relax and get along already!!

Stories about pitbulls invariably involve severe mangling . . . . . and this story didn't have that.

The Golden has been put up for adoption . . . . . the shelter has apparently received over 300 offers to adopt it.

I'm with you........Cowperson's constant posting of his vicious animals is starting to scare me.

(Emoticon added so nobody gets the wrong idea.)

I love golden retrievers but I don't think I'd ever get one because I imagine that with all that long fur they probably stink pretty bad. I like taking dogs swimming to the river so that wouldn't help matters.

How about letting them cool down in a cow wallow?

Honestly, a Golden doesn't stink at all if you hose them off after they've been in a river or lake or a cow pee infested place like the above. . . . . and hosing them down is something you would want to do to get the bacteria off them and avoid "hot spots" forming.

The reason not to get a Golden is the immense amount of hair they shed. If you can't take eating dog hair with your supper, you might avoid them.

Stink? No. We wash and groom them only twice a year. They're very clean dogs otherwise, mud drying and just melting off them. The only odour we worry about when they're watching hockey at our feet is the occasional fart.
