Unfortunate — would’ve been nice to see him keep steering Toronto downhill.

Amazing how he drove the Leafs in the ditch so fast. Took him a much longer time do to that do the Flames. Tells you that he had adults in the room to keep him from doing it as quick as he did in Toronto.

Should never see the front office of a hockey team ever again. Like Feaster/Button kinda bad.

Noooooo....it's a process Leafs, don't you know? You should extend him for another 5 years.

Seriously, why did Toronto hire him? He drove this franchise into the ground, it will be a decade before we're a contender again because of him.

Pittsburgh and Toronto lined up and begged for him. Begged to negotiated before July 1. Pittsburgh lost and took Dubus.

You have to hand it to him though, he has made it pretty far for an ECHL goon with no formal education. From ECHL player, to starting his own minor pro league (which I am sure was paid for with all the dough he made in the ECHL and not from daddy), to NHL management. The hockey world loves their trust fund babies.

I honestly believe that the thing that Conroy walked away with from the Tre tenure is how not to do things.

To me the hallmark of his tenure was the constant bleeding out if picks.
The hamonic trade was a travesty the only caveat being how much directive from management. The way Monahan was dealt with through clear injury, the trade only to sign another center instead of complementing with Kadri was the final nail for me.

The Carlo trade is just To’s Hamonic trade. Paid way to much for a bottom pair defender.

His RFA signings were great from an AAV standpoint, but those negotiations probably lead to bitter UFAs.

That said, half his moves were criticized and hes paid big bucks to make a winning team and the results speak for themselves.

The really nice thing about Brad’s stewardship is that the youngest person who was an adult (18yo) when the Leafs last won the cup will turn 77 this year.

Pretty quickly its going to be only octogenerians who cracked a cold one in 67.

Keep the drought going Toronto. You suck.

Like I argued for years on this site, he gave off the vibe and notion he was an active manager but his entire tenure in Calgary was met with below average and below league results.

Tre was "always on the phone" "in on every deal" fleecing GM's left and right at the deadline and draft table. It was always PTO's, the classic 7th D man additional late in the pre-season. He was big game hunting at the trade deadline, working the process and all the other nonsense we were fed during his time here in Calgary.

People believed this nonsense until it became beyond evident to virtually everybody what had happened with this team. Couldn't keep top UFA's, didn't have the cap room to do so, let top players walk, resigned other teams low level players to crippling contracts before they even laced up the skates.

Tre on the phone as always with Burke, the POHO who's sole job was to prevent a rookie manager from making rookie mistakes. LOL.

McDavid is gone long before then and if anyone would move heaven and earth to get McDavid, it would be MLSE, backed by the CBC and Sportsnet. And Treliving would be the one to pull that trigger.

I think that Treliving proved he wasn't a very good GM. Very professional, very great with the media, and I have no doubt at all that he was a really good person. I just don't think he was a good GM.

He came here and took a young team that made it to the 2nd round of the playoff in his first year, and failed to improve upon it at all in his 9 seasons here. Then he left the team in a big mess, and Conroy essentially had to rebuild it. There were no bad contracts on the books when he took over the Flames.

In Toronto, he has done essentially the same thing - bleed the organization by throwing picks at depth pieces. I don't blame him for losing Marner, but he also didn't salvage the situation either. The bleeding of picks didn't start with him, but he definitely continued along with it. Based on the trajectory of that team, the lack of prospects and picks organizationally, and how poor a lot of his moves now seem in hindsight, I don't see how he survives this.

I think the real question is where he lands next. Does he get another shot? I wouldn't want to hire him, but maybe i am biased. I am curious if he gets another shot, and if he does, where it ends up being.

All I know is that I am so glad that Conroy is the GM here.
