For some reason I just don't see Russia backing down if the territorial claims on "their" islands were infringed upon via force by the Japanese.

Like this Iran thing. If they invade, or strike Iran... they won't lay down like Iraq did...
George is a moron but even he's not that dumb. His invading days are over.

I wonder though if this Iran nuclear business continues that we won't hear of a few invisible planes flying over and smashing the hell out of some of those plants that everyone is getting jumpy about. I don't know anything of this situation beyond what I hear on the news, but it sounds exciting if something like that were to happen.

The Russian's no matter how depleted would never back down to the Japanese who they've had a historic distrust of.

The Japanese might have upgraded thier military power, but the Far East Military district is still a pretty powerful entity with most of the Russian's most advanced planes and ground units. The Russian's can still muster a pretty decent naval force as well and they have force equalizing long range naval weapons including the Sun Burn missile. The Russian's would never let the Japanese set foot back on those islands, they'd rather boil the oceans.

Bush wouldn't lay his hands on Iran from an airstrike concept, they'd quietly encourage the Israeli airforce to take care of the problem.

The thing with Iran is that... they're probably in economic trouble... and know that if they take a hard stance with the "nuke" word... the world will give them aid in exchange for stopping the nuke program.

I think they've done this a lot.

I doubt it will go anywhere.. but you never know..

If a guy is crazy enough to say the holocaust never happend (Iran's president).. well... thats scary... Then you put that guy against Bush... thats downright petrifying.

Since that's not what I said, I don't disagree with you. Russia needs the oil on said islands. Russia and Japan would however get together to defeat the North Koreans and settle their disputes later.

I disagree, no encouragement necessary. The Israelis already have contingency plans in place to neutralize any perceived threat from Iran. Nor will Israel heed any warning from the US though I don't think this would be the case here.

You may see Israel attack stategic sites within Iran as soon as March if Iran continues their enrichment of fuel. Fuel which could be diverted for military use in breach of international agreements.

No one is going to invade Iran. Somebody might bomb Iran but no one is going to invade a country of 85 million. Only Saddam was nuts enough to do that.

I'll say it again, the USA won't be involved in another major land conflict for another 20 years. And they'll begin winding down in Iraq this year.

I've posted this story link below in another thread (from an admittedly right wing source, although the translations are likely accurate) which raises the issue of what the world should do if the President of Iran is deliberately seeking an "end of world" scenario and would deliberately use a nuclear weapon in a first strike scenario in hopes of sparking a conflageration of a global kind?

http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/ar...TICLE_ID=48225

By the way, I think this kind of guy is probably a minority in Iran.
