I like any trade where more egg can be smeared on the Oilers faces

That's how you wwaponoze cap space.

Wish the Flames could have been in in this.
Who would you want Girard blocking on D?

Well they actually could be in a round about way. Avs could be clearing up cap space for Kadri.

We don't have any LD prospects to "block" over the next year.

Dubas really is putting on a masterclass in accruing assets for his organization for next to nothing.

I like this for the Pens. Maybe Girard can rebound without being behind Cale Makar on the power play

Dubas is doing some very good work for the Pens. One for one I like it for Pitt but to add the second. Great trade !

Oilers had to give up Skinner, 2nd and Kulak to acquire Jarry, a goalie who was on waivers twice last year.

The Pens have acquired Skinner, Girard, and two 2nds for Jarry who, again was on waivers twice last season and could have been acquired for free.

I think the Pens managed to get upgrades in goal and on D while getting a couple of 2nds back, which is impressive.

Retaining is a better way wwaponoze cap space, as you don’t have to carry dead weight, potentially disrupt the room or block prospects.

Move also provides another ~$2m or so of cap space for the Avalanche

Yeah, this is a nice trade by Dubas. Parekh actually reminds me a bit of Girard in terms of both play style and size, though Parekh is a touch taller.

Great asset management by the Penguins in this whole trade sequence

And interesting is they may have actually gotten better as a team by going from Jarry to Kulak + Skinner to Girard + Skinner and actually added two second round picks as part of that sequence.

Another good example of a team weaponizing cap space.

Dubas is quietly restocking the Pens draft picks. It’ll be interesting to see if they try and bundle them for a trade for one last hurrah with Crosby and co, or save them for the post Crosby era.

They now have 7 second round picks and 6 third round picks in the next three drafts.

Selfishly as a Flames fan, I’d prefer to see them be buyers at the deadline.
