I wonder who caused the delay with the deal in Boston. Conroy or Sweeney.

Too bad it didn't get ironed out.

Some fascinating things in that story that played out in real time on this board:
  • Los Angeles had a deal in place ("a great offer") to trade for him in the summer if he would extend with them. He gave Conroy a list of seven teams he would but apparently not LA.
  • He was close to making it work with a couple of other teams leading up to and just after the draft last year, but couldn't figure an extension out.
  • Boston had a deal done, to the point of a few NTC-clause details. Then ghosted him for three days. That's weird as was it a negotiating ploy or were they having second thoughts with the standings, Lohrei's play or something else?
  • Andersson got rightfully pissed with all of the emotions playing out saying bye multiple times to his teammates and fans. No more extension talks.
  • Vegas offer was strong enough without an extension and Conroy pulled the trigger.

The insiders on this board are real.

And yes it is naive to expect fans of the club who developed Fatmus Sandwhichson to kiss the ring on his way out.
I always wonder what happened to someone when they develop these weird little grudges against particular players.

I thought he handled the whole situation with class. Played to his best even though he knew he was being traded. Understood the business side of the game and respected that.

The way I see it, Rasmus is all about himself. Power to him, I don't appreciate the lip service he is paying to the fans on his way out.

I also find it odd he commented specifically on the return Calgary received. That's pretty unusual, and speaks to his ego.

Said he'd give a list of 7 teams he would sign with but in the end it doesnt seem he held up his end of the bargain and it was just Vegas....

Re-sign july 1st?

Vegas is lame and we'll be much better than them in 3 years.

As I said before, an Andersson #4 jersey will be evergreen(red) in Calgary. A great player with a fun personality and not a bad word on the way out (despite it sounding like kind of a tough process really).

“Vegas was indeed one of the seven teams he told Calgary he’d sign with last summer…”

He hasn’t signed yet with Vegas either, although they were on his list

Seems to me that he is genuine with wanting to go to free agency

Sorry, but you are not only rude and immature, but also wrong.

I read it as it was the deal between Andersson and Boston which did not get finalised, thus Sweeney was the issue.

Good guy, good player, we got good stuff for him. Conroy also comes off looking classy and honest.

Nothing not to like here.

I'd like to know what that deal was, Friedman had stated it wasn't Toronto's first, but if the two players mentioned plus Boston's first, I think I would have been happy. But you can't deny that Vegas' offer was pretty good too.

That's how I read it as well. Like the trade was agreed upon and Boston/Andersson just had to iron out the extension.

Awesome for Raz to give that interview. Cool insights.

Cool stuff, and yeah...that should shut up all the people who constantly badger the insiders on this forum.

Should, but it won't. Some people just like to complain and there is always jealousy.

Hopefully the insiders don't listen to the minority.

I have not denied Vegas' offer was good. I am perfectly fine with it, and was merely answering a specific question:

So Boston spends weeks hammering out a deal with Calgary, then figures out term and dollars with Rasmus's camp, then lets it fall apart at the one-yard line over trade protection? No wonder Conroy was frustrated.
