I'm over it....I moved to Marda Loop and am now much more occupied with the homeless rummaging through my garbage. I think I might have to make 2 piles....one for garbage and one for bottles so it doesn't look like a pack of wolves just went down the alley

Get. The.Fu*k.Outta.Here.

They ring your doorbell?

I've seen human size poo out there as well, and I swear to god, if it's humans crapping in the alley I'm hanging out there with a pellet gun.

Can you come to my hood too then? I live in Inglewood and have a lazy neighbour who takes his dog to under my back steps to ****, and then leaves it there. I caught it once. But some of it might be human....

And people ask me why I live "all the way out" in Copperfield.

Now I have an easy answer- no human poo to contend with.

Oh yeah, I've seen what I'm certain was human poo downtown.

Bums used to pee next to the dumpster near my apartment pretty well every day. Thank god I lived on the 12th floor.

My cousin lives in downtown Vancouver and his apartment parking lot there is a sign that reads "If you need to take a crap in this parkade, please take newspaper from the recycle bin and crap on that. Thank you. Management"

The wording might be changed a bit but not much. This is actually a decent part of the downtown too.. Not east hastings or anything like that.

I live on 58th ave right across from Chinook Centre and if you can afford it, it is a really nice place to live (apartment).

Rent is a little on the high side (765.00 util not inc). Close to everything, LRT (chinook station) is a 5 minute walk. Still, a nice place to live.

My G/F works at a shop on 17th, and they have a "p*** door" where the bums are shielded from the prying eyes of the public, and can urinate/defacate pretty much at will.

Unfortunately, the odour creeps into a room of their shop, which smells like (you guessed it) hobo-stench. There was talk of rigging together some type of electric current, so when they whizzed on the ground it would send a spark up the offender's knob.....although I don't think it ever went anywhere.

I don't think it matters where you are downtown, there are going to be bums scavenging in all the alleys no matter what.

Speaking of which, I went back to Scurfield Hall a while back and noticed that the toilet stalls now had signs that said "Please defecate into the bowl". Is this really a problem there?

Look out west too, just up Bow Trail from downtown. Areas like Shaganappi, Killarney, etc. Bus service is a piece of cake, You're also close enough to bike when the weather is ok. it's all downhill on the way in and a couple of decent hills on the way back to get the pulse going. House prices are rocketing up but I'm not sure about the rental properties. Westbrook mall is right there which has all you basics. You're also right near 17th and downtown and have easy access to Westhills for your Big Box shopping love. You've also got pretty easy access to the mountains, 10 minutes and you've got COP in your rearview.

Plus, the developers around Westbrook are making a concerted effort to transform the neighborhood from nice-but-grungy to just plain nice. The new apartment tower and the recent Mall reno have definately began the process.

I grew up in Marlbourough/RUndle. I went to Marlborough Elem. for grade 2 and 3, and Rundle Elem. for grade 4. I got my butt kicked in grade 4 by a grade sixer. He was known as the toughest kid in school but all I got was a fat lip!

ANYWAYS, I wouldn't really recommend that area because from what I hear it is Calgarys "ghetto". It's funny though, you don't notice those things when you're a kid (unless it's seriously bad I think) and I thought it was a great place to grow up.

I think you'll love Calgary.

Freeway; nice and grungy is GOOD! imo. A city needs grit!

The Westbrook area is simply a real estate goldmine. I can't believe it's taken them this long to start sprucing it up.

My next big bet for property investment in Calgary: Bowness. Simply superb area, great, great location and it's a total poo-hole. It's begging for new buildings.
