Might be best to put Kerins on waivers now... then you have 30 days to evaluate him before sending down (Assuming the rule is the same). Vs. waiving him in a couple weeks when teams have a couple injuries.

Forgive me for chiming in here but I am a little frustrated when people call out professional athletes as "garbage".

Ok, maybe the player isnt up to NHL or highest level professional sport status but calling them names like that is just not acceptable in my mind.

These are people, human beings and they deserve to be treated with a certain amount of respect.

It truly bugs me when they get treated with such disrespect.

My two cents.

Edmonton should reclaim Raphael Lavoie from Vegas to keep the waiver claim circle going

Any chance the prosvetov move is because he has second thoughts about his decision? Can they mutually terminate now and he goes back overseas?

I have zero trust in Cooley after this camp. I hope the Flames can find someone else to take the backup job, if they're serious about making the playoffs, otherwise I don't mind tanking either.

On the plus side Gridin is still here, and the waivers probably mean that Huberdaeu and Pospisil are okay.
The issue with Kerins is that he is more of a top 6 or bust guy imo. No grit or defense from him

Surprised about Prosvetov.. Cooley has been hot garbage.. Hope he figures something out.. Apparently he just wasn't the same after the concussion last year..

I am surprised at Conroy - that he has let the backup goalie situation become this. His get younger / stay competitive rebuild is going fall short simply (this year) due to his inability to secure even an average back up goalie.

To terminate contracts is a special type of waivers. It is usually noted as such when it is announced.

This appears to be normal waivers

Noted. Not looking to offend anyone here. Just my opinion of his play but I can choose my words differently.

I do wonder if familiarity and team culture made the difference for Cooley getting the backup spot at this point. They developed a really tight group last year with positive locker room vibes that have not been seen in years. Cooley is a good fit for that and is a fellow California goaltender - might make for a more comfortable Wolf which is probably the most important for the success of the team this year.

Not saying Cooley can continue to be terrible and keep the job but Wolf could play a lot to start the year to see if the team plays well enough in front of him to be a playoff team. The backup might play sparsely for the first while. Could also give Conroy time to see if there are other options amongst goaltenders in the league to acquire.

What a brutal decision, I really hope Kerins doesn't get claimed. Why not just waive Bean, Kirkland or Miromanov instead?

Classic Flames.

If I were playing the claim game I'd take a shot at Mitchell Stephens or Raf Lavoie. RHS fws are a need.

Miro claimed the press box position. Solo needs to play.

Kirkalnd makes sense from the perspective that he is a centre who can reasonably play D. Kerins is a liability in his own zone.

Cooley is... bad. Like awful. I hope they have something else in mind.

Should have listened to me you would have been prepared
Kirkland can actually hit and defend which you need in the bottom 6. Kerins has decent offence but not top 6 NHL good.
