Not hated just replaceable. He’s older and coming off of another major surgery and if we’re being honest has looked completely pedestrian this training camp. That he is also being gifted a spot on the team by some media is also concerning as it could speak to how management feels.

So no changes aside from Parekh then. Getting the not-very-good-gang back together again. Sounds fun.

Cooley, Kirkland, Miromanov, and Gridin are my guesses for final cuts
Gridin gets called up mid-season after a hot start in the AHL

It’s purely an age and potential thing that gets people riled up.
If a player doesn’t move the needle at this point, I get them getting waived. Hopefully a bit earlier also means that they pass through as teams might be targeting others getting waived

From not even playing in the preseason to potentially making the team out of camp. What a year for Kerins

I could see Morton and Kuznetsov getting claimed, similar to Schwindt and Valimaki. They will be serviceable bubble NHL guys, but not difference makers.
It'll suck to lose them, but it'll also create more of an opportunity for the players on the Wranglers (King, Grushnikov) .
Still need to cut two of Kerins, Miromanov, and Solovyov.

I wouldn’t mind Gridin going down and playing a few games in the AHL before making his flames debut. Injuries happen and he can be the first call up

I'm thinking the last 4 cuts are Cooley, Miro, Kirkland, and (unfortunately) Gridin
Considering Kerins needs waivers to go down and has looked like an NHLer by almost all accounts thus far, I really can't see them waiving him over Kirkland.
Gridin has earned a spot IMO but likely goes down to start the year unless they plan on going with 14 and 7 instead of 13 and 8 and waiving Kirkland.
I suspect if they don't want to waive Kirkland, then rather than waive Rory they may still go 14 and 7 and waive one extra bubble D-man (hopefully not Solo, but unless they want to waive Pachal or Bean, he looks like the one that would get sent down)

This time of year aways sucks when the potential to lose former high draft picks and coveted NCAA free agents seems inevitable. I remember seeing how big Kuznetsov’s butt was on his draft day and thinking he was going to be an anchor on our blueline for a good career, but as time has passed I would be more sad if Solo were to be claimed. I also think Morton may be the Flames best option at 4th line center so hopefully the bottom feeder teams aren’t thinking the same thing.

Guessing final cuts will be
Kirkland
Miromanov
Solovyov (hope it’s Bean instead)
Cooley
Flames need to clean up the Roster a bit. Spotlight will be on underperforming vets this year. There are a number of young players waiting in the wings.
Kuznetsov
Gridin
Solovyov

Like others on here, I am not seeing the love for Kirkland. He was an awesome story last year and up to the time of his injury was amazing diamond in the rough. His injury and his age were a bad break for him.
I commend him for getting himself back in position this year, but man he looks a lot slower and besides the breakaway last night, which required a WWE taken of Ryker Evans on the Kraken, I just haven't seen the speed. At this point, I have seen some more out of the youngsters competing for the spots.
You put him on waivers, and someone claims him, you cheer for him as he is a good guy, but I just don't see any other teams taking a flyer on him either. He can go to the AHL and continue the conditioning and getting back from his injury and be ready if needed on the big club later due to injuries etc.
