the three veteran D who played yesterday were pretty bad.
Hanley didn't get the clear on the first goal
Bean made the turnover on the 2nd goal
Miro had a neutral zone turnover, but was bailed by Prosvetov

I expect at least two of these three, and maybe all 3 to make the team, but would not miss any of them if the Flames chose to go young

I'm like 99.97% certain Solovyov will clear waivers. He did last year, and he doesn't seem to have improved at all to me. Poirier will probably clear too. Kuznetsov is the only one to worry about IMO.

I was thinking about this earlier: probably 13 F 8 D like last year. Right now I think up front Kerins stays up, Honzek and Kirkland go down. Maybe Morton stays up too, but I'm not sure who he replaces in that first group unless there's an injury.

On D I think Kuznetsov replaces Miromanov.

Even if Solovyov gets claimed what are we really worried about? His upside is a 6th/7th in the NHL. Not someone to lose sleep over.

99.9% of guys you're worried about won't get claimed. Everyone has guys like Solovyov, Poirier etc. Miromanov and Bean wouldn't be claimed either

It seems Kirkland, Kerins, and Honzek are fighting for the last 1-2 spots, with Morton on the outside looking in based on the groupings.

The D group split makes sense, but I really wish to see another prospect aside from Parekh forces his way into the lineup.
I think Kirkland is most at risk to lose his spot to Morton.

Apparently having a different view on a player is some kind of bias lol.

It's a bit of a problem that the fastest guys on the team are Lomberg, Pospisil and maybe Kirkland.

I think Kuznetsov and Morton has more chance to get claimed.
Solo may be.
I think Bean, Miromanov, Hanley, Kerins, Poirier and Krikland will not be claimed.

I was watching him closely last night as well.

I was actually pretty optimistic about him when we acquired him - he has a lot of tools, and I thought he just needed to take the next step. But he just hasn't. And it's not that he's bad, he's just okay - and it's looking more and more like that 'just okay' is all we're going to get. And IMO, it isn't enough to justify the bad mistakes that he occasionally makes.

I think we have plenty of guys that are better, and that have more upside - there just isn't room for him anymore, and he is in the way.

I hope they don't waive Kuz or Morton, even if it means sending down some waiver-exempt players who have a slightly better camp than them.

With Kadri-Zary-Parekh as a 3on3 unit, we don't need any others, because one shift with them and the game will be over, one way or the other

I’m not so sure Morton gets claimed. I like the player but I feel like most organizations have a 26 year old who has 45 points in the AHL last year.

Kerins and Kuznetsov I can definitely see getting claimed

Imo Honzek down, kirkland waivers, and kerins stays up.

But I really wouldn't mind Kuznetsov and Miro/Bean switching groups
I'd be fine losing Miromanov on waivers if it means we can protect Kuznetsov.

I would really like Kuznetsov to get a legitimate look.

Not only did we invest decent draft capital into him, but he has shown a steady progression every season to date with him being our most reliable defender with the Wranglers last season. I am not sure how much more a guy with his skillset can show in the AHL.

Bean and Miro have proven time and time again to be nothing more than depth pieces that quite frankly can't even defend reliably at an NHL level.

Solo is looking a bit more physical this year I think? Don’t really want to lose him on waivers either.

We still haven't recovered from losing Cole Schwindt

In which case we don't need to keep Kirkland just for shootouts, and can go with Kerins instead.
