I'd keep an eye on Brisson. He looked good in the prospects games. He plays a "get to the dirty areas" style of game, but doesn't have the size to be successful in the NHL playing that way. Still, it's the type of player that you'd give a chance to because of that style of play. You never know if it could translate to a higher level.

I didn't watch too much KHL, but he is pretty rigid out there. Very, very similar to Markstrom IMO. Pretty good when he gets set, he takes a lot of the net and doesn't give shooters much to shoot at. He's very good at getting anything along the ice, and making the lower-mid danger chances, high danger chances will likely end up in the back of the net.
Here was him against the likes of Marchenko and Panarin from point-blank a couple of years back:
That said, if the Flames manage to limit the east to west passes and rush chances against, then I think he will do just fine.
Video gets an A+ for the Public Enemy soundtrack.

Seems to me they are taking a huge gamble on Prosvetov as a backup, especially with Cooley raising so many questions last season. Hope he works out.
I'm not sold on any of the backups this year, they could be the weak link. Despite Wolf winning games, if we are losing every game the back up plays, we are going to drop to the bottom of the standing preety quick. Wolf cant't play every game yet.

Get the 1st overall dreams out of your head right now, Dustin Wolf is our starting goalie and while I do have big concerns about the backup if Wolf's playing the majority of games we're not going to be in the basement.

This team has a big range.
Last season we were healthy and had great goaltending. We also had that great start which set the tone and let the team develop that chip on their shoulder. That kept us competitive.
But its hard to play the way they played last season. If they fall out of it the wheels may fall off. A bad start, a sophmore slump to Wolf, or key injuries could drop us a fair bit. Probably not into last place, but certainly into the lottery.
I have this team drafting 12 to 14 based on their roster. But this is a team that could make the playoffs or finish much lower. They wouldn't be the first team with a good goalie to finish low.

What do you mean, even when we end up in the mushy middle we have a chance in the draft lottery. Team played way above their heads last year at an unrealistic clip. If your blinded by that success thats your problem.
The Flames play a very tough style to walk out game after game.
Credit to Huska for getting that level of buy in, but it's tough to do two years in a row (164 games) and it's tough to do if you don't get that great start.
They impressed the hell out of me last year, but without scoring goals they have to grind and grind and grind which is so tough to do long term.
IDK many posters told me the Flames would fall out down the stretch when all the other teams ramped it up and they had a great last 20 or so games. I mean as much as they could drop off they could also be slightly better at 3 on 3 and get 100 points. The roster now is better than the one that started last season.
Having a mobile offense driver dman is going to change the dynamic of this team a fair bit in my opinion. I can definitely see them matching or surpassing last year's finish.

Sure but with very low odds. As a Flames fan my thoughts are never let thoughts about 1st overall enter your head.

Was thinking that with both Prosvetov and Sergeev being Russian it would have been good to keep them together more often than not. Not worried about language as much as there being a similarity to how they were taught the position that could help Sergeev making the adjustment to the pro level.
