Parekh and Reschny are the two players with some real star potential. Then Griden, Potter, Honzek.

I have almost nothing to distinguish players in this group from each other:
Gridin
Battaglia
Reschny
Basha
Potter
Brzu
Misa (I think he's seriously undervalued around here)
Morin
Mews
This group makes up most of my top 10 remaining, and they're roughly already in order. I'm going Gridin here just based on gut instinct as being the most NHL translatable player, but I could make arguments for each of these guys anywhere in the top 10. A little more NHL level of skating from Battaglia would probably push him to #2 for me, but it is something he'll need to work on.

It’s definitely Reschny for me.
His second half and playoff run gives me great confidence that he at *LEAST* pans out to be a 2nd line play driving center. Sky’s the limit for him.

I’m surprised at the Honzek votes. The guy isn’t even cracking my top 10. Many prospects have been doing better in their D + 1s/ D +2s. He needs to have a very good year for me to put him higher on the list.

My personal worry about Honzek is that the injuries have disrupted his development path. As soon as he was getting going, he would get injured and then not look very good afterward. It always seems to set him back a little, which is understandable, but it doesn't mean he's going to have an easy shot of making the NHL.
He has moments and looks really good in those moments, but there aren't enough of them happening consistently for me to put him in my top 10. But all it takes for a guy with his frame and skillset is to have one really good injury free season. I'm hoping it happens this year.

I also went with Gridin. He keeps improving and has some size.
He put up pretty big points in his first CHL season, especially in the playoffs.

I went with Reschny. Upside and especially offensive upside is where I put the most weight.
Reschny is a solid two-way playmaker, plays with pace, comes up big in clutch moments, and wins face-offs. He is such a welcome and needed addition to the Flames prospect pool and he is going to get every opportunity to be a top 6 or even top line C. Very excited to see him progress and I expect we will be watching him at the World Juniors as well.

I went Honzek. I think he has the most attractive combination of skill, size, speed, motor, IQ and skills. He has a really good wrister. He makes for an impressive forechecker with his combination of speed and IQ. I like a lot of the prospects for 2nd, but I think I like Honzek a little more than anyone else. Close for me, but I am not writing him off yet based on some random freak injuries. If he had a known bad knee, shoulder or back, for instance, then I would probably move him down.
I think he will impress again at camp, and this time find a way to stick the entire season.

For me, I went Reschny. I like him for two reasons:
1. Reschny’s draft NHLe beat every other Flames’ forward prospect’s draft NHLe and draft +1 NHLe. Only Kerins’ draft +2 NHLe is better.
2. Reschny also raised his production in the playoffs. His U18 numbers were also quite solid.
The only other prospect I seriously considered was Brzustewicz, whom I will be voting 3rd. Brzustewicz’s draft +1 NHLe was very impressive, beating out every forward prospect’s draft +1 NHLe (for those who have had a draft +1 season).
Brzustewicz also looked very solid in his NHL debut and was excellent in the second half of his rookie AHL season.

It's comforting that there are so many valid candidates for this slot... and that it isn't because everyone is equally bad lol.

Easy pick for me with Reschny. I'm very high on him and was thrilled when the Flames drafted him.
Things are going to get interesting next round.

I couldn't go anyone else but Reschny after seeing 60 of his 66 assists this year were primary in another thread...
Throw in the insane playoffs he had on top of that, we have a player here.

I vote based on a mix of:
- Upper ceiling
- Likelihood of making the big team and staying on as a regular
- Year when player will make the big team
My vote for this round is for Brz based on my criteria. I see him as a 2nd pairing guy and him making the team maybe this year at some point, but definitely 2026-27 season.

Reschny’s the most exciting prospect the Flames have drafted since… Parekh. And if not for Parekh, I’d have to go back to Tkachuk.
Not only does his primary points stand out, but he also put up the same ppg as Catton from January on and didn’t play alongside a monster producer like Cristal (and he is a year younger). And beyond his points, he’s also exciting to watch with his constant motor and compete level.
I’m seriously jazzed that Flames fans who haven’t seen him play yet will get to watch him—hopefully in the preseason.
Honzek’s my number three. I agree on the injury concerns, but there’s something special there if he can add some weight and I actually think his mediocre numbers is more the result of coaching/teaching rather than him just not being productive.

It is really great that there are so many good options for #2 and each of them could reasonably be selected in the spot.
I honestly do not know enough about the new batch of prospects and I really like the progress that Gridin made since last year, so he got my vote. I think he and Coronato could become a solid 1/2 scoring punch on the RW (even though he is a left shot).

Went Reschny... probably could've gone any of a number of ways.
It's good to make tough decisions, even if it's only a fan poll.
