I dont want to get to into it, and I know his wife has ties to Calgary, but if you knew what was going on in Chicago? How do look your wife in the eyes and explain that you just looked the other way?
That...that floors me.

Not just looked away. Players openly mocked the kid. I won't accuse Seabrook of being one of the guys to do that, but he was wearing a letter and didn't stop it. Much like Toews and Keith he let the kid get buried on both sides.
He was a leader until it was hard.

MIxed feelings about this that I share with Blaster, to be fair. That part makes me feel unhappy about this news.
The other side of the coin is that I remember specifically reading about Seabrook being the real captain on that team, and the guy that Toews would go to for advice.
Definitely mixed feelings here. I always liked Seabrook, and I can't say I had the same feelings about Toews, Keith, Kane and Sharp - I always thought those guys, while good, all had a particularly rotten smell about them. Seabrook always seemed to be different, at least until all the horrible news came out. Sigh..

Was he the vastly less talented brother? Because if he was...it is not outside the realm of possibility for the Flames.

Yes, and we did have him. He was in Abbotsford with the Heat from 09 to 11.

That sounds like typical Flames.

Yikes, Seabrook was part of the staff selection committee of last years WJC team. Hopefully he does better for us cause man there were some really boneheaded decisions made by that group.

“We are also fortunate to work with Peter and Brent again, as they have helped assemble a world-class staff and will be key factors in building a highly skilled team that fans in Ottawa and across the country will be proud to cheer for this holiday season.”
Not his finest work

Can you provide support for what his role was before we tar and feather the guy?

But... why? Would prefer to stay away from anyone involved in that controversy. Even if he had nothing to do with it, it's not a good look.

That's not how it works. If he had nothing to do with it I am fine with him. If he played a role in a cover up or harassment, obviously, shoot him into the sun.
And, this is a hockey story.

Not sweeping what happened to Kyle Beach under the rug is incredibly important hockey talk and if you can't see how not letting people that were involved in this off the hook is important to the sport then you're well and truly blind.

He was an alternate captain on the team.

His wife worked with me(in Vancouver) and is a friend.
They're in Calgary now too; which likely played into this for Brent.

Absolutely we did.
Here’s an easy flow chart to follow if you are never sure during these questions
Did a great player have a brother that that was no where near as good as himself?
If yes, the Flames had him.

Brent Seabrook did not wear an A when the Blackhawks won the cup in 2010 and when the assault took place. I don't put a lot of blame on the younger players for not speaking out or up at the time. Toews and Kane were 21 and 20, Seabrook 24. I do put most of that blame on the veteran older players like Marian Hossa, Brian Campbell, John Madden and Brent Sopel. If we're going to be wildly trowing around accusations like Blaster is doing I tend to look at the veterans in the room, regardless of who is wearing a letter.

Between '07 and '19 there was only one season that Brent Seabrook did not wear a letter on his jersey at some point for the Chicago Blackhawks and that was the cup year. One year. Out of 12. If that is going to be your justification as to why he "wasn't a leader" then I don't know what to tell you but those are some might fine straws you're grasping at.
I find all the guys you just listed just as reprehensible, but 24 is more than old enough to know sexual assault is bad.
I'm not "wildly throwing around" accusations. Again people are acting like this is new information and we don't know what happened. Kyle Beach has come forward. His story is all over the internet for anyone to read. Brent Seabrook has been named as a player who knew what was going on and did nothing. We know players on the Blackhawks made fun of Kyle Beach for what happened to him. I am giving Brent the benefit of the doubt that he was not one of the guys who did that. He still sat back and watched a young man's career get destroyed after doing nothing to stop the sexual assaults that lead to it. He did nothing to stop any of that because winning a trophy mattered more.
Brent Seabrook should be ashamed of himself.

I think the Flames management have more information on the actual facts than any of us do. I have enough faith in the Hockey Ops department led by Craig Conroy to have made the right decision after reviewing those facts.

Wasn't grasping at straws simply didn't think Seabrook wore an A at the time, and looking at the cup photos after to confirm it appears he wasn't.
