Wow that's a nice bit of business by Tre.

Laffs need to keep some cap space to sign McLoser next year. I thought Tre would overpay to keep JT tbh.

Treliving always squeezes his own guys and then blows his load on UFAs. One of his only few "strengths" were RFA negotiations / with guys who want to stay, although it probably just pissed off everyone even more.

Agree with the comments here but how much of a value is this in year 3 and 4 of the deal when he is almost 40....

he's 34 and makes just over half of what Kadri gets on a contract that expires at a younger age than Kadri. Huge value

The cap is going to be $113.5 million in year 3, and if the trend continues it will be even higher in year 4. If he is not LTIR'd by then, this is peanuts to where the cap is going. This is incredible value throughout.

They need to sign Knies, but they should have around $14 mil cap this year after Knies signs.

Next year is where it will look very good for the leafs. They should have everyone that matters signed next offseason and around $32 mil in cap space.

Treliving needs to stay away from free agency and looks for a trade for a player with term. Kadri????

Like I said, the Leafs are going to make sure they have the cap for McJesus next year. I fully expect they will look at one year deal guys looking to rebound like Mantha on the free agency market. Not that they can't make deals to shed cap if they had to for McDavid anyhow next offseason but Tre will play this smart.

Yes, true. Even a poor season in year 4, the first 3 will more than make up for year 4.

I hate the Leafs and Tre, and want their last cup to pass out of living memory…

…but that’s a great signing.

If you look at the off season in 2027, once again nobody that matters in a free agent. They are set now, this deal is almost 4th line money for a PPG player.

I don’t think Tre had much to do with this. Tavares loves playing in TO and wants a Cup. Have to give Tavares a lot of credit. He took a massive hometown discount. Some players might leave a couple million on the table to stay, but he left a lot more than that.

He 100% could have got $9 mil or more on a 4-year deal. He gave up $20 mil

What a discount
You’d think he scored 20 points total last year the way the leaf fans I know talk about him.

Treliving doesn't deserve any praise or credit for this signing.

JT would've signed this contract under Dubas.
