Guy was invisible except for his crosscheck on Bennett.

This is what Rishaug apparently said yesterday:

Quote:
Rishaug didn’t specify the dollar figure for Frederic’s extension, but he did say that he’s hearing it will be a multi-year deal, potentially worth around $3 million per season. “I think people are going to go ew, when they see term, and they may even go ooh when they see the dollar figure.”

“I believe the Oilers are prepared to place a bet on Trent Frederic. I believe they’re prepared to say, ‘We believe this player is going to be worth the dollar figure they’re going to put in front of him here and that he’s going to grow into that contract and that in two or three years, as the cap goes up, that deal is going to look good.”
https://thehockeywriters.com/sticker...n-with-oilers/

well, good luck with that.

I'm guessing this means that they're planning to offload Kane or Arvidsson or someone like that, because no way is Bouchard taking a bridge deal and they don't have the cap room for this contract without moving someone out.

And swapping Frederic for Kane or Arvidsson is just shuffling deck chairs around.

One can only assume an angry McDavid went to management today and said "I'm leaving if you don't re-sign Trent!"

Lol, he isn't it worth the 4M combined for 8 years. This is going to be another classic Oiler situation where it's "leaked" and then when his actual AAV comes in at 3M they'll say how he signed for a million less to stay.

Let's see how Treliving responds to this signing.

Disagree. I think it was the Florida stream, but they were giving it to him one play that lead to a scoring chance against because he didn't just dump the puck in like a good depth player. And they weren't wrong.

Once I noticed him, he stuck out; and for all the wrong reasons

He’s probably the only gm who sees this deal and thinks “damn Oilers got a steal”

As we saw in the Finals Oilers really need forwards to win the Cup. So he is the one of their player to help with that .

8 year deals for 4th liners taking them until they are 35 years old as always good ideas.

They must have some kind of plan in place to dump Kane's salary

I do kind-of hope this means they try to nickle and dime Bouchard and he takes them to Arbitration and gets awarded a $10 million one year deal, forcing them to either let him walk for basically nothing or offload money somewhere else. Would be funny.

Though signing him to a long-term, high AAV deal is probably actually much worse for them in the long run.

They sure are getting what they paid for in Bowman. Feels like another bad offseason coming. Love to see it.

I’d rather they sign Bouchard to a 11 million dollar contract and then McDavid walks.

I read they chose Holland over Zito. Zito would have had them with a couple of cups.

When you give up a second round pick you got as compensation for not matching an offer sheet for a game changer like Fredric, you've got the lock him up.
