6) Amy Lee - What the hell Captain, this is a female singer from my time who still has it. Its hard to believe that Amy Lee is only 43, but she's been around forever, starting Evanescence in 1995 with Ben Moody and releasing their first official album fallen when she was 20 years old. Amy Lee is a masterful combination of an amazing voice and theatrical presentation with a hard rock sound that takes advantage of one of the more unique and polished voices in the business. One can argue that Evanescence lost some of its creative edge when Ben Moody departed the band but her voice remains the same and even recent concerts are an event.
7) Lee Aaron - One of the real trailblazers as she made her mark in the male dominated heavy metal scene, bringing her massive voice and energy to the stage. She really broke onto the scene with the song "Metal Queen" which most boys who were about 13 at the time would tune into Much Music for a glimpse of the video. Over the years she proved that she was not a one trick Metal Queen, and she's constantly evolved her sound and showed herself to be adept at staying relevant in Europe and Canada. In the 90's she went with the more polished power ballad pop metal sound. She left the metal scene and did Jazz Albums then returned to her roots in 2010 with the excellent Album Fire and Gasoline. In concert she still brings a high energy fun experience that's surprising for someone in her mid 60's, and her voice is unchanged.
8) Carol Decker - A lot of people will say "Who?". but in 1988 the band T'Pau released their first Album Bridge of Spies, which in my mind is one of the more perfect Albums out there, every song is strong and driven by Carol Deckers amazing voice. The Band T'Pau was on and off for the next 30 years releasing only 4 or 5 Albums, but in 2015 they released another Strong Album in Pleasure and Pain.
9) Dolly Parton - Yeah someone can argue with me that she doesn't rock. But she absolutely does. She also proved that by releasing the album Rock Star in 2023. everybody's spotify list has at least one guilty pleasure Dolly Song on it. She's also a tattoo fan, and continues to perform to this day.
10) Annie Lennox - Dave Stewart and Annie Lennox were the perfect power duo in the 80's as the core of the Eurythmics, and while they were classed as more of a pop duo at the time you can't listen to "Would I lie to you", or "Sweet Dreams" without saying she rocks. She's probably got to rank up there when your looking for the greatest female soul singer of all times. Her age hasn't softened her edges, nor her powerful voice as at the age of 70 she continues to throw her voice out there.
I know a lot of names have been left off, that's the issue with a top 10 list, but in my mind these are my woman that still stand out and rock. Let us know what yours are.

Can't believe I got all the way down here for Stevie Nicks.
Saw her a few years back in Montreal, still incredible.

She might be my favorite female vocalist, I've seen her half a dozen times and can't count how many times I've listened to her albums front to back. You can like a band or singer but the true test is how many times to reach for that CD.
Pat Benatar and her hubby once crashed on my coach after a party, they came with a couple of my friends and just in passing introduced themselves as Neil and Pat, I didn't even know who they were until a buddy told me.
Many people know the first video on MTV was The Buggles. Pat Benetar was the second.
