Ovechkin was in the sin bin for a slash. His team was solid on the penalty killing. The Capitals only have a dozen shots on net.

Stanloven scores to tie it up at 1-1 midway through the third period.

The Hurricanes win it early in overtime.
Thompson was the only reason the Capitals made it to overtime.

Hockey's been pretty boring, that's why... Carolina's been able to dictate the style of play they prefer (which is boring) which is not very enjoyable to watch.

Wow canes match up well against the caps. That was a fun first period.

Holy crap PK Subban is annoying. I think he dials it back a bit when Messier is there

Oilers-level dive by Blake there. Call him for embellishment as well.

It is hang on time once again for the Capitals. It is 2-1 Capitals with less than six minutes in regulation time. Gostisbehere has the Hurricanes lone goal, a power play goal in the third period. No points for Ovechkin.

Wilson scores the empty net goal with a minute left. He and Aho have been at each others throat all game. Series tied.

Mcmichaels with the cheeky tap/slash on stankoven. Stankoven in a scrum with half the caps. Seeya next game short man.

Not too many real upsets so far in the playoffs. 8 of the top 11 still alive. With potential for 3 of the top 4 to move to the final 4.

A category three 🌀 hurricane 🌀 has blown the Capitals out of the arena. It is 3-0 Carolina and Anderson is on a shutout watch.

Roslovic has two points. The Hurricanes have the edge in shots, 22-18 midway through the third period.

I was admittedly cheering for the caps, a few players I like on the team (Ovie, Duhaime, Thompson, Mange). I used to like Oshie, but he has revealed himself as a friend of Trump so he can get bent.
They are a hilarious team before games on social media- really fun. But they are ripe to fall. Looking like paper tigers in the playoffs so far.
I'm completely meh on Carolina. Always competitive and higher in the standings, just can't seem to go far in the post-season. I just don't see them as being better than the western conference heavyweights.
Lots of offensive talent and hard workers, but I don't trust their goaltending and their defense doesn't stand out. Though to be fair I don't watch a lot of Carolina during the year.
I think the winner of Leafs/FLA would beat either of these teams.

Fredrik Andersen has been really good these playoffs though. He's not a bad goalie, and it's not rare for a goalie hot streak to last through a whole run. They also have one of the lowest shot against averages and excellent PK, so they dont really need elite goaltending.

I see them as a solid "dark horse", if only in the sense that no one talks about them much. Statistically they look like a serious contender.

This seems to be the least followed/hyped series.
