I don't think Huska should be afraid to put Parekh in tonight. It's the freakin Sharks. They are the worst team in the league. If there was ever a game that you could take a chance on(i'm not even convinced it is a risk), then this is the one.
He's a special player, give him a shot. If you don't like what you see, pull him for the Ducks game.
For the record, I don't think he will. I just think he should. Easy for me to say though, I feel no consequence should it backfire and Parekh goes minus 3.

Is there confirmation that Parekh is physically with the team at the moment? Maybe I missed it, but I would have expected to see a some kind of statement or something from media directly linked to the Flames.

Nothing yet. If he is, I gotta imagine something is coming soon. Flames are skating within the hour is my bet.

Must win game: let's insert a 19 year old defenseman who has never practiced with the team! What could go wrong?

We need rock steady options like Bean, Hanley, Miromamov.

It looks like the morning skate is at 11:00am PT (noon in Calgary), so we should get an idea about the lines then. We don't even know if Parekh is with the team yet.

Pretty much need to win out at this point. If St Louis can win 12 straight, so can we!
Go Flams!

This is what I thought at first as well as thinking a bit like @Locke posted.
Then I took more time to consider. This is a very different injection into the lineup. A bit like a rookie named Iginla coming in at a key time. Let’s face facts, he isn’t going to get enough practice time to make a difference and if we don’t give it a try we may find ourselves out of the playoff race (are we really still in it?) before we do anyway.
This team has done an amazing job of competing and staying in it. But, have you seen our power play? We are struggling to put up goals regularly. Then I thought, hmmm at least needs to practice our PP. Gave my head a shake. He is the power play. He knows what to do there and the look totally changes with him on the PP anyway.
After reflecting, it’s definitely time to push all the chips in and that means putting him in as soon as possible. Manage his match ups and get him on the PP. Dress 7 D if you think you need to.
The only question is “Do you need a couple of days rest or do you feel like you’re ready to go?”

Also, a fair way to look at it. I just don't want to see him get completely outclassed doing a significant jump without being somewhat prepared for it by the coaching staff.

My money would be on Parekh
But if the team gets eliminated, they'll both get in next game

If i were Parekh even i wouldnt want to dress. Taking a guys spot that worked his ass off all year would piss me off....that aint a team player either IMO.
Next year sure base it on merit, metrics , blah blah but not now.
Maybe bring in ALL farm options as incentives in some way if you can and call them black aces .
If i were Craig and Ryan id be straight up and say " whos got the juice" who is gonna bring it ? Who has another gear???
If your invested its a 200 ft disciplined game take a dumb penalty and your done. Period .
Time to buy in . Watchjng Raz last game as wellnas Bahl holy moly those 2 are ramped up and wanna win . Theres no quit and mother F is that inspiring to me as a fan .
I remember us winning in 89 and watching our D making damn sure they were rocks and only bending never breaking......same in 04 .....not the most talented group but engaged nonetheless.
Ill never forget watching Rhett stand back and watching the guys pile on eachother . Job wasnt done yet and he knew it. He also knew about heartbreak.
I hope these guys do a few things now.
- play hard 60 minutes ....not a nanosecond off....the rest of the year
- remember this years wins .....and learn about the losses not about being a loser
- enjoy this
- refer to this seasons high and low points next year and build off of those.
I want Parekh to see it , feel it , know it even if he isnt in the lineup....just to learn what this team is overcoming and know what tangibles he needs to being next year.
Love that hes got potential but for now he hasnt earned jack and he should know it.
I remember Regher playing with plates in his legs after nearly dying in his NOVA and wondering how is he doing this ?
Anyway. I could go on all day about yesterdays favorite D players ive watched and how they contributed ....my favorite pairings, the silent leaders , clutch shot blockers , big hitters .
Our Flames this year.....damn proud fellas

Hanley’s been one of their most reliable defencemen since the break.

Nothing says 'rock steady' like a teenager who hasn't even had a practice with the team!

It's not a blown assignment if he doesn't know what the assignment is.

Didn’t Makar jump right into the playoffs against the Flames and make an immediate impact? You have to figure he’d be a net positive on the pp for sure. If he sucks on the 3rd pairing, then play with 5 D most of the game. But he is the type of talent that can make an immediate positive impact.

Haha, fair enough. I still think he is the type of talent that is worth the risk.
