According to natural stat trick, at 5v5, the Huberdeau line got 2 high danger chances for in the game and the three other lines combined for 0.
They are missing Zary and Backlund, so that would be a bit better, but the forward group is not working. Farabee Backlund Coleman seems like a good line and Kadri+Huberdeau have been decent at least but there needs to be an overhaul of the rest of it.

When you get overmatched by a higher skill team with 1st line talent. Wolf was spectacular and gave the a chance but we can’t generate #### all and get out skilled in our end if we are not working 200%.
With the xGF we have produced this game might be more of what we see if the pipe bursts.

Okay, I'm ready for this team to bottom out. Drop into the bottom 10 please.
I don't know what's happened since the break, but they look like they spent all their energy. They just don't have anything left in the tank.
That's the cost of this style of play. The Sutter-esque system drains all but the toughest, most resilient players. This is why Sutter had a "type" of player that he coveted. He knew very clearly that if he had the right roster, he could beat anyone with his style of play.
Well, sorry to say, this ain't that bunch. There's lots of heart, for sure, but as Zapp Brannigan used to say:
This team is cooked. It's going to be a rough last part of the season.

i see myself as optimistic. The bottom falling out should crush the illusion this management had about their competitive window. I'm sick of hearing about adding guys in their mid 20s like we have any core whatsoever in that age group. If they're forced against their will into getting their top 10 pick, so be it.

Yeah I think we saw three straight games were elite talent just took over.
Hughes and Petterson
Makar and McKinnon (and Parker ####ing Kelly apparently)
Nylander, Matthews, and Marner
We have work ethic sure... some nights, but when your top point producer has 48 points? Up against those individuals who are 100 point players? Yeah, we don't stand a chance.

I have a flaming hot take. In the off season if a team like say the Blue Jackets wants to take the next step, would it make sense to trade Wolf to them for one of their many young center prospects+? They have multiple guys trending towards being good 1Cs. Does it make sense to straddle 8th to 12th place for the next 5-8 years as per usual? Allows the Flames to tank properly to.
