I don't have him top 20... Not sure how he would get there? A cup???? Have you seen our roster? I think some of you need to put the bong down this morning and go breathe some non recirculated air. Kadri will be 37 before we're even remotely competitive.

Today? probably somewhere in the top 35.
But given that he is under contract until 2029, he stands to move up the list quite a bit.

Kadri is currently 33 in PPG, and 46 in points.

If you wanted to zoom out and consider his resume, a Stanley cup 970 games ( and counting) and nearly 700 points, is a great career.

That said, I think that there are intangible considerations. He is a guy, who wants to win, wants to be a Flame, and is carrying a load on a team that by most metrics, is awful. Kadri is, for this era of the Flames, the best forward we have. People are going to remember him fondly.

Some of those are not necessarily in order, but all easily above Kadri.

I have a soft spot for Huselius.

for me when a franchise is 52 years old, there will be a long list of greats.

I want to invent a metric called the "Hell Yeah Jersey Test"

When you see someone wearing a players jersey, do you think "Hell yeah"?

When I see a Phaneuf, or Markstrom Jersey out in the wild, I don't think Hell Yeah, even though there are, by counting stats two of the best players to play for the Flames.

That said, when I see a Hudler Jersey, or Glencross I think Hell Yeah, even though they are not better than Markstrom or Phaneuf.

I saw a guy with a Rene Bourque jersey last year. Is there a "yeesh" test?

Partially. He also holds him back because he's a very sub-par passer for a first line player.

Huberdeau can whip impossible passes around at the drop of a hat, and if he played with someone that could link a second pass together, the points would be piling up significantly faster.

Huberdeau had to turn himself into a grinder in front of the net, because that's the only way you're getting a chance generated by Kadri.

This almost warrants it's own thread.

I think the ultimate hell yeah for me would be a Stephane Yelle jersey.

I agree somewhat, though contest Phaneuf and Hudler's comparative rankings here lol.

Markstrom jersey is a puker. But a 06 Phaneuf jersey? Hell yeah!

One of my biggest regrets in life, is finding one in a thrift store for $14 and not buying it. 1st world problems.

But for me, "All time great" would be a top 10 or so franchise player. Like, I think Langkow is a better overall Flame than Kadri thus far, but wouldn't call him an all-time great on the flames.

Ultimately it is extremely pedantic and totally a subjective qualification. So, it really doesn't matter if you or I think differently about what constitutes an all time great. Just an interesting thought process.

Oh you're totally right. It's 100% subjective. To me you have Top 10, and then the broader category All Time Great, which includes players who were the best for their respective era, to me, when we think about the 2023-2027 Flames it will be tough to say something positive without mentioning Kadri's Name.

Kadri likes to carry, which is good for Huberdeau. He doesn't seem to look to pass to Huberdeau once in the zone as often as he should, and when bad habits creep in he does it when Huberdeau is covered. Going forward, Zary, or maybe Frost will be a better centre for Huberdeau. They need a net front guy and/or shooter then, because it won't be Huberdeau. Could be Stromgren if he finds his game, or maybe Honzek plays wing. Or Gridin or Basha?

Huberdeau connects well with a trailing Dman. The Andersson goal was an example. Hopefully Parekh can be that guy.

Kadri might not be an all time great at the end, but he will be a very popular even after he is done here. He is already the most popular player in this new post Johnny/Tkachuk era.

So happy to see this thread, always feel like CP hates on Kadri way more than he deserves, but obviously there’s a good chunk of us that recognize just how good he’s been as a flame. Without a doubt (in my mind) the best flame since losing Johnny/Chucky. That being said we really should trade him while his trade value is still decent, maybe this offseason.

Yeah, coleman is just fine! Wish we were a better club during his time here, but can't point to him as underperforming expectation at all. His 30g season last year was remarkable.

Markstrom... Markstrom lost to Edmonton in the playoffs while I lived here, in spectacular choking fashion. I will never excuse him for the horror I had to endure as a result of that. /s
