somewhere between 15 and 20 would be my guess. And I'm more than okay with that.

Okay, how about this for an idea...

New jersey drops into lottery territory, and wins, but because of the new rules it gets them into the top 10. So the pick is top 10 protected, and the pick owed calgary slides to 2026.

The Flames then have 3 unprotected 1st rounders in 2026, a much stronger draft.

Hughes brothers. Immensely talented, but a little fragile.

The Devils will need a replacement at center. May I suggest Kevin Rooney?

NJD could quite easily miss and probably will. Rangers are beginning to not suck. But then one of Boston, Detroit, Ottawa, and Montreal has to stop sucking enough to pass them for that 8th spot.

Awesome news. Eff you Markstrom! You can watch the Flames in the playoffs from Stockholm.

I was wondering why they would burn cap space on helping with retention on the deal between Boston and Edmonton.

Guess we know now. They’re throwing the towel in.

It would kind of be funny if the Flames traded NJ 1st for Mercer, just so the trade tree for Markstrom ended up being Mercer and Bahl.

Mercer’s stock has dropped a lot over the past two seasons. May be a bullet dodged for the Flames.

Wait, a player had surgery now to be ready for in time for the start of the next season rather that waiting until the start of next season for the surgery so they can be LTIR until the playoffs? What a novel concept!

The Flames will pick up Mercer in the off-season; like Bahl.

The Devils actually need their best players during the season if they're going to make the playoffs. They don't have the luxury of playing silly games until the cap is lifted.

I'm not sure you can say $575k out of 11 plus mil in cap space indicates throwing in a towel.
