I think it’s technically because they could be sending their 2026 1st to Calgary as part of the Tkachuk deal if they somehow crash down to the bottom 10 this year since the 2025 pick is protected.

Chicago got their goalie and got Jones out of there. There's gonna be a bunch more pain for Chicago to come but Knight is a good start back upwards.

No pieces were ever discussed from Calgarys side.

That's a little worrisome, unless they thought they could get additional assets.

Technically the 25 1st is still conditional if Florida somehow missed the playoffs (or was it top 10?) that the Flames would get their 26 pick so likely because there are conditions on the 26 1st already they needed to include conditions on this pick

He certainly put on a show for them today.

After this deal, Florida doesn't have a backup goalie in the NHL nor the cap space to add one.

Pretty good return for Chicago. Retaining for some time, but with the cap going up, it might not be a huge factor in a few years when they are ready to compete.

Hahahaha.

Why in the world would we inquire on a 30 year old dman. This ownership and management team has to be joking.

We got saved by Hanifin, Lindholm and Jones all saying no then. Hahahahahaha that is amazing.

Vladar (50% retained) for Balinskis and a 4th. E5

They have Driedger (lol) in the minors, but can't call him up, of course. But they have to do something with a blueliner anyway, which is why I wonder if Ekblad is moving this week.

Hanifin would have been absolutely fine to extend. Mirimanov is a scrub and that 1st is probably 25 or later. Hanifin on a 8x8 would have been fine for Calgary had he decided to stay.
