I would guess Brad Pascall will be a strong candidate for this. I can see him being interested after being passed over for Flames GM. Not out of sour grapes, but because to become an NHL GM he is gonna have to move markets, and this will be a relatively high profile position that might put him on the radar of other clubs -- particularly if he finds success. Plus he has deep Hockey Canada ties.

This would be a good decision. So probably not going to happen.

Bring in Europe's top Field Hockey coach ala reverse Ted Lasso. If no success on the ice, at least the "fish out of water" hijinx will be hilarious!

I’m old enough to remember when Canada had a full time national team.

Were I the GM and VP all positions would be filled by Jeffrey Combs!

Starting center? Jeffrey Combs.
Top 2 Dmen? Jeffrey Combs.
Goaltender? Oh yeah. Its Jeffrey Combs.

Head Coach? You'd better believe its Jeffrey Combs!

Backup Goaltender. Thats my opening offer.

Canadian Audience: "Who are these guys?"

It could be interesting.

"Is that William Shatner playing right wing? Isnt he in his 90s?"

Most of us could have picked a better WJC with just the remaining guys they didn't pick.

I'll only consider it if they change the name to Hockey Canada Tzar.

Yeah, that used to be your Olympic Team.

Lindros played for the Nats the year he refused to play for Quebec, and went to the Olympics.

Quite a few recognizable players on that team, like Joe Juneau.

Also former flames Kevin Dahl, Chris Lindberg, and Trevor Kidd.

Also Dave King as the coach.

And Flames draftee but never a Flames player Kent Manderville, who's name I only recognize because of the Gilmour trade.

The Hockey Czar can double as Governor-General. Change the national anthem to the old HNIC theme and play that before every game. Headcount reduced, time saved, and fans will actually be excited when the puck drops instead of half asleep. Done!
