Six straight losses (0-5-1). Will Vladar ever win again?

I liked Vladar’s game to start the season, but he hasn’t been very good as of late. At this point management must know what they have in him. He’s a career backup who can go on a hot streak from time to time. A change of scenery is probably best as Cooley deserves a call up.

On the road too

I dunno. It sucks to be Vladar

Second of a back to back, against a top team, and the Flames played a crap defensive game

-Connor walked Miro and Bishop and went bar down. Highlight reel skill play by a top goal scorer in the league
-Backlund blindly passed it right to Appleton
-Vilardi with time and space goes post and in, the Iggy special
Awesome when Iggy did it, bad on Vladar, if you listen to you guys here

Those three would have been enough to win it. I don’t see a bad one in the lot

The 4th one he blew the poke check, but there were 3 Flames around the guy

The last one he looked awkward but it was a quick release off of a pass in to the slot by another high skill scorer. That’s a goal scorer’s play

They never give him anything resembling a tight defensive effort

Poor guy

And another point tonight. He is starting to look threatening offensively.

Sharangovich has 3 goals and 7 points in his last 7 games.

He's starting to heat up too.

He gave him half the net...Vladar was totally off his angle there. Expected goals for the Jets was 1.5

I'm not sure where you guys are seeing this terrible defensive effort...HD chances were 7-7 as well. Game was even on scoring chances and expected goals...their backup played better.

Vladar has an 88.6% save percentage this season, and he has an 89.2% save percentage in 96 games during his career. So, his numbers this season are pretty consistent with his career numbers. He seems like a really nice guy, but the Flames should find a different backup in the off-season. I don’t think Vladar will be traded before the deadline, because I don’t see another NHL team giving the Flames anything for him.

Physicality =/= effectiveness. Pospisil is one of the most physical players on the team and he's struggled more than Yegor basically all year.

Yup, it’s a game the Flames deserved to win, or like I said in a different thread, they deserved one point at least.

Why wait, might as well give Cooley a chance.

That's the thing Cooley is already singed and on a 1 way for next year...Vladar is done with the organization anyway. Why not Waive Dan and bring up Cooley? Worst case you lose Vladar and his cap hit.

No matter what you think of Vladar he probably has 5 games left tops in the Flames organization.

Jesus, I don’t even think you watch the game

It’s the individual breakdowns, and the details

Connor walking Miromanov and Bishop and going in all alone. Bad D. How many Jets let Flames walk in like that? Zero
Backlund blindly backhanding the puck to Appleton, where he is looking at a wide open net. Terrible defensive play. What Jet made a similar pass to a Flame? None
Letting Vilardi walk in to pick his spot. The Jets didn’t get in to first place in the league letting this happen
3 Flames around Vilardi but Vilardi is the only guy who touches the puck.

It’s not that they gave up 30 ten bellers. It’s that they fail to compete, and badly lose on individual plays . Some days they can play nearly perfect and hold off top teams, some days they show that they have a bunch of fringe AHL guys who are punching above their weight, and when they play top teams, they get schooled

Why is that confusing?

Let's not exaggerate just to make a point. He may have lost the net a bit. But it was also a great shot that went post in.

If the fancy stats say expected goals for Jets were 1.5 that seems off.

He didn’t lose it a little bit. That was beer league level stuff. Way easier to make that shot when you can see that much net. He wasn’t good at all tonight. Don’t know how it can be defended. Had a routine blocker save almost end in disaster because he over played it. He was bad.

And not only that, from the top of the circle in, you can see there are no Flame pressuring, he had a clear path to approach the net head up, with no pressure.

I watched again and yes Vladar’s angle was a bit off to begin, but by the point of shot release he was pretty much square. Either way it was blocker side above the pad post and in. Perfect shot placement

I don’t recall any Flames walking in unopposed like that.

Nope, angles cut properly and that’s not a gimme. Not even close. A) That shot is way easier to make when you can see that much net. B) The goalie needs less movement to make the save. Brutal
