I actually laughed when I read this.

My beer league team has more scoring touch than the Flames.

But to be the guy to lead them beyond that he will need to show that he can attain results. We saw what happened when our last GM got too attached to some lower profile coaches when that up and coming core probably needed a more experienced guiding hand who had won at this level.
Give him some tools before judging him on results. He’s trying to make the playoffs with a zero skill roster. Not really fair to him in that respect.

I believe it was from the broadcast crew of one of their opponents recently where they described Huska as having, among other things, "poise". I thought that was valid from what we see of him and is reflected in the way the team plays.

You know, regarding Huska...I'm going to say that the Jury, for me, is still out.

I will however admit, that unlike prior coaches I've never seen him do anything that had me screaming at the TV "YOU IDIOT!!"

He's no Glen Gulutzan and he can have that engraved on his tombstone as the ultimate compliment as far as I'm concerned.

I'm overall pleased with Huska, I cant say that I've seen him overtly out-coached and, frankly, I like the way he runs his bench and his dressing room.

Another thing I like about him is that he knows when to be calm and when to be strict. He knows when a player needs a hand across their shoulders and when they need their asses stapled to the bench and furthermore I think he has been excellent with the younger players which, lets be honest, is most of our roster but at the same time appears to have the respect of the Vets.

Is this team playing the greatest hockey ever? No. But I think he's doing a remarkable job considering the tools and talent at his disposal.

At the moment I'd say that I doubt many coaches could be doing much better and many, many coaches could be doing much worse.

So Go Huska Go!

And...if you need someone to hold your skull in the bowling-ball polishing machine...I got you man. just say the word.

Its a standing offer.

I'm pretty sure the exclusive contract for polishing Huska's head went to Simoniz. Check in again at the end of the season.
