I would happily pay if there is an option, this site is worth it.
Don't need to get fancy with an ad free option for subscribers only. It could be as simple as a patreon where if enough of us subscribe, we could reduce/eliminate the ads on the site as a whole.
I have been on this site longer than my handle. Thank you Bingo mods and cp members for making it happen.
It takes time $ energy. Valuable. Ads or no ads I browse. If its a fee its a fee I would consider adless, or $ to browse. The posts do save me time for avid flames fan (take that into account as well as their expense). I love the flames this is great!
This is actually a terrible response. UX has a direct, substantial impact on how people interact with a website (how long they stay, how many pages they visit, how often they visit, etc) and the revenue an ad provides can sometimes be based on those metrics, but is always connected.
Less viewers, less people who might interact, less ad revenue.
So, if there is an issue where a specific ad type (which is all anyone ever complains about, and it is a common complaint) is having a direct, negative impact on UX, then that’s a problem for the website, not just the user. Especially as people get pushed toward installing an adblocker to deal with the problem, which seriously hurts potential as revenue overall.
The site is no longer free. You’re now the product. And if there is a problem being raised that impacts the value of that product, the people in charge of the website should certainly deal with it.

I proposed this in the other forum, but make January an annual fundraiser month. Give us a first target to remove the bottom ad and a second target for the right side ad.
If any local or specific businesses want to buy ad space, still allow that provided they’re within tasteful confines of a traditional ad box.
The discerning and high quality clientele of calgarypuck would be grateful.
Win win.

I have access to many different wholesalers for hockey jerseys, golf shirts, hoodies/joggers.
We use them to outfit our hockey team. We also have an online store, where people can order from and we ship directly to them.
If Bingo was interested, we could do up some merchandise and have it available for sale in the online store and we could ship direct to the customer.
Bingo and I could discuss a profit share to help pay for running the site.
Just a thought.
I also have an Etsy store for drop shipping stuff. With Bingo's permission we could do up t-shirts, hoodies, jackets etc with the CP logo and again, it would be a profit share with Bingo and the site.

Reasonable ads are OK. If the cost to run the site is rising, an annual fundraiser would generate money from the loyal userbase to bridge that gap, instead of intrusive ads.
I declare that I would participate in a fundraiser.
Do you find it drains battery? I usually surf with my phone or computer plugged in. Brave defenitly works like a charm killing ads!
nothing noteworthy, I use Brave on my desktop which of course is plugged in. When using Brave on my phone don't notice any difference either really. I use a Google Pixel which seems to do well with not bleeding battery in the first place. CP is not mobile friendly on Brae (or any browser for that matter) but I can make do.
I'll pay annual fee or a buy from a fundraiser. This site provides so much great entertainment and info about my beloved flames that the tab is pinned on my browser for quick access.
Firefox is the way to go. zero issues with site, even on phone.
