Fracture ruled out probably means ligaments. Not fun.

This wasn't a dirty hit IMO. Maybe 2 mins. Unfortunate

the HITTER is responsible for the hit and point of contact...maybe is a joke. 5 and a game is the absolute minimum here

accidental does not make it not a penalty. There is a reason 90% of these types of hits are from no name tweeners...guys play D in the NHL for 20 years without doing that.

Impossible to say where in the range of "just a few games" to "career ending injury" this falls into. Some of the ones that look bad have the player returning pretty quickly, and others don't seem too bad and the player is gone for the season - or more. Zary has that youth on his side. Hopefully there isn't any major injury under that swelling, and it will just heal well.

To me, it looks like he is preparing to hit with the shoulder. Then Zary veers right and the natural reaction is for the leg to follow him. Just doesn't look intentional, however, he is still responsible for his actions, and that should be a suspension, because, in the end, it is knee on knee.

What am I missing here? That looks dirty to me. He was looking to hit with a shoulder and then stuck the leg out a bit.

I don't know, it's a penalty but I struggle with whether it would be a different reaction from the fanbase if this was happening to a player on another team.

He held his line and Zary did try to open him up which put everything off line...don't see any malice in the play or a huge intent to take the knee out. A 5 min major seems right in this case and I wouldn't expect a lengthy suspension.

Agreed, but I don't see intent, I see reaction. So that's where I wouldn't use the word 'dirty' but I absolutely think he should be suspended.

As always, seeing this at actual speed would put a different perspective on a player's intent.

No idea if this is an suspension, however it was definitely a major.

if you look at it frame by frame he definitely moves his leg into Zarys knee.

At the start of the video and 1 second he's prepping for the hit, weight is on inside edge of right leg and outside edge of left leg. forward to the 3second mark his weight is either off his skates or is on the inside edge of left leg because he moved it in the way.

Subtle but he for sure moves his leg into Zarys knee.

Looked clean to me at first, but on the replay his leg is extended just before making contact with Zary's knee. Suspend his ass.

This,

These videos that have been slowed down, really make intent judgements seem easy.

Checking what happened can be done with slowed down videos.

But judging intent should only be done on full speed videos.

I dont think there was intent, he stuck his leg out and changed the angle but more because he was going for the hit and adjusting to Zary cutting to the middle.

Still, you're responsible for your body just like your stick.
