So I’m not sure why they would expect us to have stock piled high end picks. Even at that Parekh and Wolf should have us a bit higher.
It isn't about 'expecting'. They simply give scores to the players in the organization and add them up.

It's important to remember here that the Future Rating isn't just prospects, but also players on the team, and how valuable they will be going forward. The Oilers scored 8 on the Future axis, not because they have any prospects (which we know they don't) but because McDavid and Draisaitl are still on the team, and are still projected to be dominant for the next few years.

Several of the Flames' best vets are aging (Backlund 35, Coleman 34, Kadri 33, Huberdeau 31) so they aren't getting a lot of Future points from that group.

None the less, their Future list is clearly being undervalued: Wolf, Zary, Coronato and Parekh isn't a terrible group of prospects. And the depth behind it: Honzek, Pelletier, Bahl, Brzustewicz, Gridin, Basha, Stromgren, etc., etc., should have them deserving more than a 2.

I’m heading out of cell range glamping for a few days, I hope I come back to some balanced scoring and good goaltending. Go Flames!

This game is going to be like two one-legged guys in an ass-kicking contest.

Except for doing it after the team was neutered.

They weren't projected to nosedive like they did though.

Things looked rough once Tkachuk said he wasn't coming back but after the trade was made opinions changed and they were supposed to contend again for the Pacific.

It was a desperate move by a GM trying to save himself without thinking of what was best for the franchise.

I know...and people are still under the impression that he left the Flames.

Other way around.

You think the flames were firing Treliving (or not renewing) and he bailed right before? I can't see that. If they knew he wasn't the guy I can't see them letting him make a bunch of win now moves to save his job, that makes no sense.

Those moves were the straw that broke the Camel's back.

Yup, Treliving was so horrible that the owners couldn't wait to fire him… until right after he got hired for the most prestigious GM job in hockey.

Something doesn't add up in this narrative.
