Lindholm and Zad were good Flames, until they weren't. Friends Off.

If I hear he was a problem in the room, then fine ... I'm on board. But from a distance I can't say it was obvious that he quit on the team.

To add to this, the Lindholms had multiple miscarriages before finally having a baby in 2022, which was born premature. I am sure there was a heck of a lot of things going on in his head both on and off the ice. It is one thing when you get to go to work and leave the stresses of home behind - or vice versa - but when both the home and the work are difficult, it becomes difficult to bounce back sometimes. He gets a pass from me.

I contrast this to Zadorov who waits until the Flames have a road game in Toronto to spring a "Surprise trade request" making the absolute maximum amount of noise possible. Everyone in the organization was angry about it. The players held a player's only meeting about it. Conroy ends up having to make a trade with a reduced asset and get him out of town. That ruined all the goodwill that Zadorov held from his time here in Calgary.

Byfield is/will be good. Hasn't earned being lumped into that category. Just wasn't a fast starter.

Oh western hockey scout. Grammar and spelling are key if you want ppl to take your opinion with any seriousness.

And all those players have earned careers in the league. Not sure what he's saying really.

Byfield ain't going nowhere. He's the Kopitar replacement.

Even if you don’t include Byfield… it does seem rare for forwards that are that big to become ppg players in the NHL. Every year, there’s a Byfield/Lindstrom/McQueen that goes in the top ten of the draft. The raw skills and size are tough to pass over. Players like this seem to always take longer to develop and it seems more rare for them to develop into #1 centers.

The slow development period could be due to these players adjusting for how big and strong pro players are after likely being used to always being bigger and stronger than virtually everyone else they play against.

Steinberg's tweet from practice had Vlad practicing in the starters net. It's in cheeses OP.

Edit: NVM, Bingo to the rescue.

Sportsnet East, Ontario, and Pacific channels will join this game in progress after the completion of the Kings-Penguins game.

Wolf is starting.

It would be non-sensical to start Vladar after that performance by Wolf when Vladar has been given a few back to back starts in a row already for performances that have been nowhere near as good as that one by Wolf we just saw.

It's time to start giving the kid 3-4 games in a row here pretty quick. His numbers are far superior and he seems like someone that will settle in more as he plays a string of games.

Is Miromanov a healthy scratch right now? I hadn’t noticed his defensive game suffering too much but maybe his limited offensive output is reason enough to give Hanley an opportunity..??

Retirement Contracts

Zad was always awesome

Lindholm was a whiner, a spoiler brat.

You want what others like you got? And instead of working harder you sulked?

Waaaah waaaaaah wah

Don't even get me started on Huska's use of his players...

I had this conversation with Vlad many years ago, yes...over dumplings, and I have to say that while I think he was a little more militant than me, I have to say that I largely agreed with him.

Its basic.

Dont pay people for what they've done, pay them for what they will do.

Dont pay hockey players retirement contracts.

Vlad was adamant, I forget his age cutoff specifically, but, once they're out of their prime? Dont lock them up.

Other sports have ways of getting around these contracts, but hockey doesnt.

You sign a soccer superstar? If he puts asses in seats, eye-balls on TVs and jerseys and merchandise off racks you can mitigate some of that even if he's washed up.

Hockey though? Those are iron-clad unless you make them available for buyout or plant drugs on the players as they cross borders.

The vast majority of players shouldnt be getting 7-8 years if they're even close to 30.

You want it? Find someone else to give it to you.
