Sucks that Hanley got hurt (did he come back? quit watching soon after)
He shouldnt be in the lineup anyways.
Hope hes ok though.
Should of been a 5 minute major.

Guys not named Zary, Wolf, Coronato are all fair game.
I want people who show up and give 110%
Not guys who collect that pay cheque and rinse repeat.
This team is where it’s at because of Wolf’s amazing play most nights and the youth stepping up. Combine that with a terrible pacific division and alas the Flames have pretended to look good or at least have fooled most of us.
This team wouldn’t cut it in the playoffs.
Open for business.

But we all know they wont do this. We play in a fantasy world, they play in real life. Making decisions like cutting Kuzemko lose, cost money. there's always a bean counter involved in the decisions.
A lot of this is business driven and not so much the on-ice product. If Kuzemko gets waived and someone picks him up....great.
If he wants to back to Russia and have his contract terminated, then he has to ask for it and we all know that the NHLPA and the Player agent would try to talk him out of it.

Been a problem since Gaudreau and Tkachuk left.
This team sucks at zone entries. Uphill battle to generate offense all game long.

We need to look for the oldie goldie "dufus for dufus" trade. Move him for somebody that is sucking for some other team with the same term. Maybe we get lucky and whoever comes in gets hot and we can trade him for a pick.

If you can connect on short passes you can enter a zone
Even with that old core, relying on one guy to weave through a wall of defenders was a poor strategy and it wasn't the best PP then either

It’s actually better for the Flames to lose to bad teams and beat good ones.

There's no reason Kuzmenko, Kadri and Huberdeau can't be healthy scratches (not all at once). The Flames have young players who could step in and play. Hanley and Kirkland (I know he's our unsung hero his year) really shouldn't be playing over over players who have a future with the team.

When you're in a rebuild I don't know why any type of scratch or benching is off limits.
Low payroll, not a lot at risk.
This should be a meritocracy, top to bottom.

He is not a leader, he is a filler. You can lump him into the bunch of Kadri, Kuz & Huber.

I have to disagree. We arent in the dressing room and by all accounts he is well liked a representative of the team.
We're on the outside looking ....not even in...We're just on the outside.

By all accounts, Backlund is a very good captain, and was one before he was even named.
Flames lose a little, and these weird posts creep in. "Backlund sucks as captain", "Conroy sucks as GM", "The Earth is Flat"...
