And at least 20-25 games weren't televised every season. We got a lot of TV games, but nothing like modern coverage across networks and streaming and highlight clips and the like.

As a kid I remember most games not being on TV. Feel like back then between 2 and 7 and CBC maybe you'd get 45 games televised a year.

I'd have to look back to see if I have one of the old pocket schedules here.

But it was Nothing like now where every game is televised.

In the end paying the extra to Sportsnet for every Flames game isn't that bad if you do the cost analysis...$20 a month for like 30 hours of games a month is fine...it's that the quality is crap.

Remember when they started having almost every game televised, except for like one??

Here's a sense of how it went in 1981-82, the Flames' second season.

That’s about right. But if you went to a sports bar in the 80s and 90s, you could catch most of the rest on satellite. It was kind of a nice change to watch local broadcasts from Boston, Chicago, etc. In ‘89 a buddy and I watched every Flames game except 3 or 4 that weren’t broadcast anywhere.

I remember the Flames PPVs from like 20 years ago. Started out buying every game but gave up because of the horrible broadcast quality and it was only for bad matchups like Minnesota or Arizona.

I actually enjoyed going to watch the PPVs at the movie theater.

Is that still a thing? Late last season I suggested it to a couple of people and they said it was awful with spyware and didn't load games. I haven't tried myself in a long time as I only watch the Flames and have access to them.

But bars were also affordable back then. Now, if you had to go to a bar to watch a number of games you'd pay off a Centre Ice (or whatever it is now) subscription in like 4 games at the bar.
