Tough to come in once teams have started to find their game and you're almost back in pre-season mode a bit.

He will find his game.

Actually the Kuzmenko-Sharangovich-Huberdeau line was the least of the Flames issues tonight:

82.0% xGF
6 Scoring Chances For
0 Scoring Changes Against
2 HDCF
0 HDCA

Didn't score but they did generate chances. They were on the ice for the 3-1 goal but IMO it wasn't really on them and probably the goal Wolf would most like to have back tonight.

Fridays game against the Devils will be a good test IMO.

Back at home. Coming off their first real blowout of the season. Markstrom's return to Calgary. Tough Devils team.

Win and your record is 6-4-1 and still not a bad first month and you salvage the good start a bit. Lose and you're 5-5-1, back at .500 and you've complete erased your good start.

Let's see how they show up.
Month ends tomorrow

The team plays bad against faster teams. And I don't like they let the other guys skates freely in D zone with the puck. And stand closely in front of net and giving them lots of space to pass around. I think Huska's D zone play doesn't work well.

This is the Flames team I expected to see this season. Third line is getting exposed. Bahl has had some rough games.

whatever happened to Huberdeau as a professional athlete should be studied by scholars for many years.

Three of those goals could have been avoided if the Flames were better at clearing the front of the net. Bjugstad might be big, but he has a bad back and no one even attempted to move him out of the way.

Really disappointed in the veteran leadership group. Nobody expects this version of the Flames to be a playoff contender, but the seasoned guys are supposed to mentor and teach the kids how to play the game the right way. Tonight we saw lazy uninspired hockey where they couldn’t clear the zone on multiple occasions and took bad penalties.

I give a lot of credit to Wolf as this certainly wasn’t his best game, but he battled and made some big saves in the third. That determination and effort wasn’t there with guys like Kadri, Coleman, Huberdeau and Backlund. I was hoping to see a fired up captain in his 1000th game but that wasn’t the case.

The older guys need to set the tone and I’m sure the coaches are frustrated with what’s transpired over these last four games. Time to reset and start doing the little things and pay more attention to the details of the game. Even though this is a development and growth year for a lot of our players, doesn’t mean that it’s acceptable to be blown out with this brand of lazy and undisciplined hockey.

I'm happy that the stink is coming out now. Gives the players, coaches and management an insight as to what kind of team we have here.

That said the losing streak is not surprising given the hot start we had. Maybe players got a bit over confident and needed this losing streak to get their minds straight.

The Dodgers winning the WS was a nice consolation.

So 10 games in. Wonder when they start making moves?

If they are going to suck hard I would start bringing up young guys as a reward and for a look-see.

Cooley. Lots of Dmen. A few forwards.

Yep. Starts from Coach out. He starts lines that are broken. Backlund doesn't give a #### in his 1K game. You're the captain. Grow up. Huberdeau doing what he does. Kadri playing like he's waiting for someone to care. Mantha is what we we know he is.

Enough of the ####. Bring kids up to play with guys like Kuzmenko and pump numbers. Stop sending the Klapkas down to keep Rooney and Kirkland up.

The way to not be so bothered by losses like these is to focus on the rainbow with the pot of gold underneath it. Takes 82 games and a bit of lottery luck to get there, but believe me, there is gold there. You also try and find whatever storyline that is enjoyable, and just look for it more. Zary is almost always fun to watch now.

That call against Coleman was bad. There were some bad calls this game. Flames didn't get the calls, and they didn't get the bounces either. They had a decent start, though they were allowing the better chances. Arizona (and the refs!) just seemed to wear them down.

One thing I don't understand is why choose to play Klapka in certain games over others? This was a prime game to play him - Arizona is a big team, and it showed tonight in the puck battles and net-front battles. There is a lot of size there. Klapka wouldn't have changed the outcome of this game or anything, but if you are going to play him, play him against big teams. That's what I would do anyway. It isn't about fighting or intimidation - it is about helping to win some board battles, helping to establish a bit of a net-front presence, etc. Just helps.

This is a bottom 3 team by the looks of it. I don't really want any player above 25 re-signed. This season will be hard. I expected hard. Hopefully we can see hardworking more often than not, but these losing skids will get ugly I think. Pot of gold at the end.

Hagens, Misa, McQueen, Frondell - any of these names added to Parekh and the already deep prospect pool that Calgary has will help to completely change this team around. It is admirable to not rebuild and go around saying that Calgary has never picked 1st (or top 3). Heck, maybe that will still be a thing after the next two drafts. Calgary just needs to find 2 high-end centres for a top line and a second line, and I am confident that they will find a sexy Backlund 2-way type of forward replacement for when he retires.

No matter how ugly, boring and terrible it gets, I watch from start to finish. I have seen loads of terrible Flames hockey since 81. It just makes me appreciate it so much more when this team really is good. Season just started. it is going to be a long grind, but I am going to find a way to enjoy every single game other than the one or two I will end up missing for whatever reason. I will have a lot of cheers saved up for when this team is good again.

Enjoy the wins, and look for the pot of gold in the losses. That will keep you going. Keeps me going anyway. 2 first round picks this upcoming draft again, 2 more next draft (or possible 1 this year, 3 the following, depending on conditions). Flames will be able to afford taking long-shots and risks with high end ceilings. Losing is never enjoyable. I can't stand it. So frustrating and annoying. I have just learned to accept bad seasons as they make the great seasons even more special.

The self inflicted mental burden of believing the need for increased responsibility for actions on and off the ice, given the monetary and length of committment shown by a franchise.
Results in overthinking, overanalyzing, wanting to fit in as a teammate and coachable veteran, all of which distracts, and puts one in the wrong side of the fine line of a quick decision game, from the game that got him to the levels he some recently achieved

Happened with another ex Panther in Boumeester after signing here too.
