Flames got off to a great start and then fell apart for the rest of the first period. I felt like they were the better team in the second and third periods until the refs decided to get involved and absolutely screw the Flames.
Wolf was fantastic, he’s going to be great for the Flames over the next decade.

Officiating isn't going to change, so either stop watching or deal with it I guess. I stopped watching after 2019 and just follow along on CP.

I stopped giving the NHL money after the Coleman non-goal
Just saw the penalty again, "slash" doesn't even hit his hands

They have to start playing for 60 minutes again. Seattle game is where it started. This game wasn’t exactly the same but they are starting to float for 30 to 40 minutes.
Huberdeau is dissappearing
Mantha same thing
4th line not running around
“Scorers” not putting it in the net
They need someone to jump start them. Maybe the coach needs to start holding them accountable? They aren’t getting blown out. But they are napping for half their games. Not a trend you want to continue.

Let's be honest. They are playing far beyond the teams implied skill level. I'm not sure there's is much more they can give.
It's gonna be how the luck bounced for them for the year.

They play like that nightly they probably win most games...even with the poor stretches. They had the Jets on the ropes up until the Pops penalty which isn't easy to do.

Fun team to watch, that’s all I can ask for this year. Refs screwed us for sure but it is great to watch Ras with his staredowns and our goalies showing great promise.
Definitely felt I got value for my money again.

Just finished the game up, and a loss is a loss - but Wolf was awesome yet again.
Weird game, weird bounces, but daaaaamn I love what Wolf is putting together here.

Each year I think the reffing can’t get worse and then it does. At this point, it exceeds plausible incompetence.

I think we’re pretty good!
They had the balance of play in the second and third. Wolf was great and we hemmed the jets in for long stretches.
The refs need to realize that they’re there in service of the game. In the last ten minutes of tonight’s game, they forgot their purpose.

Just wanted to weigh in on the reffing... I do think the ref that called the penalty on Kadri messed up, and here's why:
-sometimes a penalty always has to be called. If it takes away a scoring chance, or creates a scoring chance, or it causes injury, or had the potential to cause injury... that has to be called every time.
-if it's anything else, then ref does have a decision to make. And then, context matters. When the context is that the Jets just had 2:30 of poweplay time, including 1:30 of 5 on 3, and couldn't score... why the hell are you giving them another chance, late in the game, on a ticky-tack call?
The call isn't wrong. It's just not good refereeing, in my opinion.

The fact it seemed quite obvious the refs were in full game management mode after the flames 5 on 3 and PP advantage shows the sad state of nhl reffing. They were clearly on a mission to give the Jets their turn. Too bad. It was a very entertaining and close game but the refs felt it was more important for them to decide the result than the teams on the ice.

Vast majority of NHL players interviewed during Media Weekend said they believe refs should have to do post game interviews with the media (to explain calls, etc). (The Athletic players poll.)
Daly (Bettman's eventual successor) said that NHL refs will continue to be off-limits for the foreseeable future.

Wow, would I love ref post game interviews!
Daly is old. Maybe he retires shortly after Bettman.

Can Mantha start hitting the fricking net. We always hear how amazing his shot is but we can’t tell because he never hits the net. So annoying.

That's why it's Conroys's job to tear the league a new one.
Take the fine and take another if you have to.

Typically, this will lead to more bias against the team that complains. The NHL hates scrutiny, especially from within. The product won’t change until there is some real heat from the media or revenue declines.

They aren’t good enough to float through the majority of a game and have their A lister snipe a few goals on demand. Because we don’t have one of those.
They have to win games by outworking the other team. If they don’t do that they will most likely lose. Lately they haven’t been doing enough of that.
