Quiet PGT tonight,
Went to the game, my first this season. Hat's off to the Canes, they played a lights-out game for the first 30 minutes. Flames found their legs in the seconds half and made a real game of it.
Can't be that mad about them having their first regulation loss of the season againstg an eastern contender.
Learn and move on! GFG

100% agreed.
If anything, I worry that excessive shots against will wear out whatever NHL tandem we see (Wolf/Vladar/Cooley).
Flames need to improve defensive coverage, overall. But the goaltending itself has been superb, so far…

Stupid Apple TV notification spoiled the game I was recording. Turned off now.

Hard to be upset about the first regulation loss 7 games into the season. Carolina is a really good team.
It's just disappointing because it was another slow start. If they could play a full game like they how they play in the final 30 minutes of games, it would be amazing.
Also, stop taking dumb penalties.

Close but no cigar. As usual came on at the end but needed to bury a few of their scoring chances.
Vladar was great. Hopefully he’s okay.

Murderers row in the next few games. Guess we’ll see what the flames are made of.

So Mantha needs to GAF again and the Kirkland promotion experiment didn't work out.
Also not a fan of Rooney. Kirkland is better there and Rooney can continue to enjoy the corn.
Coronato may need to go down in favor of the next in line for a cup of Joe.

When you’ve had the consistently stellar goaltending we’ve had this season, you don’t change a thing.

It's an incredibly long season. There will be plenty of time to see each goalie go on a run of starts.

Is there a G in the entire league that has started 5 in a row?
Yet you want a rookie to be that guy?
Nope.

Impressed they were able to adjust up, but Carolina is a seasoned group that showed how to finish. Fun game. Naz deserved one.

Naz is beyond frustrating with his tunnel vision and selfishness at times
It appears to be an understandable byproduct of his personality to be honest
I think he needs more maturity to reach his potential (to consistently perform at his best) but quite honestly fear it may never come

Saros has started all 6 games for Nashville.
Just answering your question, certainly not suggesting Wolf should do the same.

Thought the team looked very overmatched, team although 5-1, has been getting some lucky bounces, late goals, etc, not driving the play to the other team. They may be starting to come back down to reality.
Will give credit to the goal tending...it has been excellent....and Wolf one day is going to win a Vezina....kid has outstanding position metrics and lateral movement

Canes pressured so much for most of the game. Their passes were almost always on the mark. Calgary struggled early and threw the puck up the ice a lot. Canes also pressured the powerplay right from the Flames zone. The slow motion drop passes to start the PP don't work when the Canes have lots of time to adjust. A good eye opener for the Flames to prepare for Saturday.

I get what they're doing - I assume the plan is to slowly ramp Wolf up as the season goes along while also keeping him fresh enough that fatigue doesn't affect his growth.
It's a bit of a cart/horse thing though. Vladar gives you a much better chance at a high draft pick (he was bad in the first game, and was very lucky some goals were called back against Edmonton that weren't good too) where as Wolf is close to entering that difference maker category (if all continues to move forward).
