I think Pachal has been an absolutely amazing waiver pickup. I think he's still got more to his game, and Vegas made a big mistake here.

We were not going to go 0-82. We will win games, and it will be fun. They are playing a fun brand of hockey and winning.

I think we will lose a bunch of games still and finish under .500 and in the mix for a top 5 pick.
But this team isn't a push over, the question is how bad will teams like SJ, Chicago, Anaheim and Columbus be. I still think this year could be a year where 70 points has you in or near the top 3 pick. Columbus Imo is the favorite to be the worst in the league

Shout out to huska and coaches. It underestimated impact players ike barrie miro Hanley and pachal have coming from winning programs. Increase practice habits and implementing defensive practices from winning teams. Might be buried in depth there too.
Yes still early let's see how they look but started bad last year traded some vets and team looked ok

This team still gives me Vegas expansion vibes.
A lot of under utilized castoffs from other teams that will get a bigger role here and may excel and grow with that bigger role. And although it lacks the true star power you want, they do have a lot of depth.
Not just on D, but at forward too.
And while the goalies are unproven, the talent is there for them to be successful.
Plus the whole team has an "us against the world" mentality going for them, and early success right out of the gate to build confidence in what they can do as a team.

I think that Vegas misfits team is an excellent example.

They were under .500 last season when they still had Zadorov, Lindholm, Tanev, Hanifin, Mangi, Markstom...the day Zadorov was traded they were under .500
Better record after 10 games is already guaranteed this season vs. last, have to say some of these guys were over rated it seems.

I think record post trade might reflect effort of those that didn't want to be here? Young legs? Low motivation due to standings? Combination

I dont think Pachal's ceiling is as high as some think but im enjoying the physicality to his game. Seems like an excellent cheap replacement for Zadorov so far.

Some teams in the past have made it with two clear top guys, a third guy who plays 20 minutes, a 4th who plays around 18 and a third pair they shelter. This team lacks that anchor type 3 guy at this time. If Bahl can keep handling 18 plus a night maybe they survive with the other 3 coming in between 14 and 16. Especially if Pachal and Miromanov can plug up space and help keep traffic out of the create alongside Bahl.
Florida won the cup with a broken Ekblad, OEL, Dimitri Kulikov, and "Miikolaaa" backing up the duo of Forsling and Brandon Montour. Vegas used McNabb, Hague, Martinez, and Whitecloud after Pietrangelo and Theodore. So it's not like a real contender has guys like Devin Toews on the second pair which can be the narrative at times.

The thing with fla and Vegas is size on d. Not big names some failed projects yes. But big. Flames seem to have that right!
Also some of those players would never sign in cgy in current circumstances

After the first 10 games and before the trade deadline, they went 29-19-4. After gutting the team at the deadline, they finished 8-13-0.
You can blame the veterans for the terrible start, but that was not a terrible team they were on.
